Wes Anderson needs to make a film about Defense Scheme No. 1. In the 1920's Canadian generals were hypothesizing an invasion of the American north, even going so far as to have reconnaissance missions into American cities. Their targets were Seattle, Portland, Spokane, Great Falls, Fargo, and Albany.

Today we would like to remember a little city that shown a light in the darkness of September 11th 2001.
In the town of Gander in Newfoundland, a community of about 10,000, it was just another morning. People woke up to go to their jobs, to say hello to their neighbors, to take part in their community. They didn't know that within a few hours of their day starting, that the Gander International Airport would be asked to take in 6,600 airline passengers as planes were grounded after the events of 9/11.
The city of Gander dropped everything to take care of strangers who found themselves stranded in the Northeastern tip of Canada. This act of kindness has not been forgotten, and has recently been retold in the award winning Broadway musical "Come From Away".
