Jenn's Healthy Ways
I created this page to help encourage, motivate and inspire you to live your healthiest life!
I will be sharing different ways I promote health and wellness in MY life.
Providing my family with yummy, more nutritious food is my love language to them.
•
On this beautiful March break morning, we made homemade biscuits! With my nutritious spin of course!
•
I can’t wait to dig into these.
•
❤️
Grief is like waves and at first it’s like your drowning and you are just trying to float 💦
•
March 4th will forever be a day engrained in my soul. It began our last journey here on earth together.
•
I was working out and out of the blue, I got a phone call from my dad to come quick because the doctors don’t think mom will make it. Nothing prepared me for the day ahead or the next following days and months of trials, successes, setbacks and hard conversations. Your parents are supposed to be invincible right?!
•
Mom was a fighter, through leukaemia, a stem cell transplant, years of hospital trips because of pneumonia and then some. But things always went our way, until it didn’t.
•
I share this because grief is a very lonely journey, no two people share it. We have the most amazing support but grief is very individual. So if your just starting your grieving journey or are years in, I see you 👊🏻! My mom was and is my best friend, the big moments sting for sure but it’s the little things: wanting to call for advice, FaceTiming while I’m cooking to chat about our day like we didn’t just talk an hour ago, missing my shopping buddy, someone truly caring how my day was going, trips to silver creek for chocolate zucchini muffins, drinking hot chocolate together while the kids nap, our gin rummy banter and the love she had for my kids.
•
I’m wearing the same workout clothes I wore yesterday…I have a small space in my house where children often surround me during my workouts, I don’t have fancy equipment and some days I’m tired 🥱!!
•
What I do have is dedication and commitment because I move my body for ME and MY future.
•
Start somewhere, I have been working out consistently for 15 years and I haven’t bought into the idea that we need fancy workout clothes or equipment to be effective (if you have this great, you do you!). Some people feel better when they have that stuff and that’s perfectly fine BUT if it’s hindering you starting to move your body, let go of it!
•
Work with what you DO have, focus on that and don’t let social influence your thoughts on what working out should be, make it work for YOU!
•
Let’s prioritize rest and rejuvenation.
•
In a world that endorses hustle culture, let’s endorse the quiet and still days where productivity is measured by doing something that brings us joy, snuggles, naps, staying in your pyjamas and maybe not getting to the dishes right away.
•
I don’t know how restful days look for you but I know in the fall of last year I started to schedule them in my weeks because my kids needed them and so did I. If I had a free moment, I filled it with something to do, I LOVED being busy. It’s amazing what having kids has taught me about myself.
•
What does a typical restful day look like for you??
•
I haven’t posted since January 2022 because I haven’t had the words…
•
I spent the beginning of the year in a 12 week mindset course that I LOVED and now realize I would need more than I could have ever imagined…
•
My words for the new year were growth and healing 😯 (my mom even commented on the post!). Ask the universe and you shall receive they say. I hate to say it but I’m now healing from 2022. It forced me to grow and it forced me to heal from things I never anticipated.
•
It’s ok that I spent the first half of the year on nerves because it’s time I will never get back with my mom and I would do it all over again. It’s ok that I’ve lived the last half of this year on autopilot and supporting myself each day because so much was put on our plates (as it was on everyone’s!).
•
I’m saying this as a reminder, that it’s ok if you didn’t achieve some big goal this year or if you had one heck of a year! I just hope you supported yourself through it like your best friend would. I hope you loved yourself through the hard times and celebrated the good times. That is what I did.
•
I became my own best friend because I had too (I have beautiful best friends don’t get me wrong) but I needed to create a stronger mindset that supported myself, that reminded me of my affirmations and that gently said “you have everything you need to get through this”.
•
I hate to even put this in the universe out of fear of how this will be tested but this year my word is connection 💫
•
Connecting deeper to myself and my purpose, connection within my relationships, connection with my spirituality and connection that creates beautiful memories.
•
🌱
When I look back on the past 5 years, they have been some of the best in my life but also the hardest….
•
Staying stagnant is hard, growth is hard…I’m choosing growth this year..
•
Hurting is hard, healing is hard…I’m choosing to heal this year…
•
Being comfortable is great and that’s where I tend to stay but I know there is no growth in the comfort zone. I made a promise to myself that I would grow but not my business, not financially, not my family (we’re happy with 3!) and not our house. I’m growing myself, internally, healing parts of me I didn’t know needed healing (or maybe I did and it felt too uncomfortable) and working on my mindset. The beauty is, I’m doing this for me and not for an extrinsic motivation but simply for me. Well, maybe my kids and my husband too?!
•
Like I say, we are all a work in progress and I felt like I wasn’t progressing so I needed to ask myself why and how was I hindering my own internal growth.
•
Just a reminder for the next time you see someone who you think is healthy because they look a certain way.
•
Health is more then just having muscles, abs, drinking a green smoothie a day, etc. just because someone “looks healthy”, doesn’t mean they have a healthy mindset. Health encompasses the entire human being.
•
So don’t compare yourself to someone’s highlight reel on social media. We are all “a work in progress” and that’s ok! Growth is part of the human experience. Be kind to yourself, be your own best friend and try your best not to compare, you don’t know what someone else is battling.
•
Christmas baking has commenced at the Seeler household 🎉 🎄! And yes, the Christmas tunes were cranked!
•
Every year my kids, my mom and I bake A LOT of goodies to give away and to have at Christmas with our family.
•
This year, I finally convinced my mom to make more nutritious treats. So I went on the hunt to find new recipes and I’m so excited to indulge.
•
My kids are wired on the excitement of Christmas alone and the goodies they get from everyone so I didn’t want to add to that with the cookies we make.
•
Recipe is from ! We will be making several recipes from her account and some of my old school recipes.
•
Just a reminder that it is more than OK if you enjoyed some Halloween candy last night or this morning.
•
You DO NOT need to skip meals, snacks or workout even more as a punishment for enjoying Halloween. Move your body because of how it makes you feel and don’t stress about the little candies you ate, that’s worse then the candy 🍭!
•
I hope you enjoyed it, continue to enjoy it and move on 😉!
•
🎃
Food is meant to be enjoyed, savoured, fun and to bring people together…
•
Yes food is fuel and food is medicine but food also invokes emotion and can create beautiful memories.
•
I want to teach my children how to have a wonderful relationship with food. I want them to remember cooking and baking in the kitchen with me JUST as much as I want them to know what different foods do for our bodies.
•
This mornings Halloween menu includes a bagel with cream cheese and blueberry eyes, clementine and cucumber pumpkin, banana and chocolate chip ghost and a green smoothie.
•
Happy Halloween friends 🎃

These words spoke to me…
•
Let me preface this by saying that trauma has profound effects on our nervous system and I am not equating this situation to that of someone who has experienced trauma. However, little stressors whether positive or negative also have effects on your nervous system.
•
I have always been someone who does not take on others energy. Even as a social worker, before entering my office with a client, I always said silently “your energy is your energy and my energy is mine”.
•
I try not to get into peoples’ storms. I will help them navigate out of the storm, if they wish or just listen but I don’t take on the energy.
•
However, being in a house with 3 little ones with constant energy, it’s hard not to have disruptions in your nervous system. If Emma squeals because she wants out of her high chair, I get jumpy and it’s my nervous system haha.
•
I studied the nervous system for a long time while studying psychology in university. Ever since then, I have always practiced ways to keep it calm through movement (or rest) food (or fasting) and supplementation.
•
Lately, I have been working on calming my system again in so many ways. Bringing it back to “rest and digest” the biological opposite of fight and flight. More internal peace amongst the beautiful chaos (but chaos nonetheless) around me. I’m ALWAYS a work in progress.
•
Does this speak to anyone else?
•
After a conversation with my friend yesterday I was sparked to share about how I’m intentionally trying to rest more.
•
I am someone who loves to be busy and I jam pack my days, especially weekends. However, with Audrey starting school I have been more intentional with rest and days at home. I have been saying “no” to more things and just leaving time for hours of “nothing to do” because Audrey needs that after a week at school and so do we as a family.
•
What sparked my interest yesterday was when my friend said what makes those choices hard, is seeing what everyone is doing on social media (ie. going to pumpkin patches and the perfectly posed family picture!). When I heard this, a light bulb went off. SO TRUE! Social media gives immense FOMO!
•
So I’m here to remind you that if you planned nothing this weekend, spent time at home just vegging about that in turn you actually did SOMETHING! Something you didn’t even know you needed, rest and time to yourself or time together.
•
If you didn’t do what you see others doing on social media, oh well! You’re not missing out. What a mind shift that could be for some people. If you are someone who gets FOMO from social media drop a 🙋🏻♀️ below! For me, the hardest part is just saying no lol if I have a free minute I normally fill it up and that’s exhausting!
•
Teach your kids about food by letting them cook/bake with you 🍪!
•
Audrey is at school, Emma is sleeping and Nina is here with the other littles so Ben and I can bake together.
•
We’re making chocolate chip cookies and I found a recipe that is safe for Audrey to take to school and I always sub the sugar with coconut sugar!
•
Now the dough will chill and then I will bake them and eat them 😆!
•
Good news about this, is making the choice for good health can start at your next meal 🎉!
•
I’m a believer that functional and western medicine can work cohesively because both are necessary.
•
But everyday we make a choice to heal our bodies from the inside out. We can move more, we can add more plants 🌱 to our plates each day and we can consume more water. It really is a simple as that. There is so much information out there that over-complicates taking care of our bodies. From different diets to different workout plans, buying organic, drinking water only out of glass, etc. This deters people and makes them think “there’s no point”. Not everyone can afford organic (ridiculous, nutritious/healing food should not be expensive!), not everyone understands what vitamins/minerals they are lacking in their diet and need to supplement and not everyone can afford a gym membership.
•
But guys, here’s a way to keep it simple!
🌱 eat less processed food (pre packaged cheese, fast food, already made muffins and cookies)
🌱 make your meals at home
🌱 add more plants and veggies to your plate
💦 drink more water
🧘🏼♀️ move your body in any way you can, walk, bike ride or play at the park with your kids.
•
I highly encourage you to become obsessed with learning about food and it’s medicinal and healing properties but until then, let’s keep it simple folks 😉!
•
Make it fit YOUR lifestyle!
•
Working out on weekends is easy for me because I’m home, the kids play around me and I only choose MAX 35 minute workouts.
•
I love hour long workout classes and training sessions with the trainers at BUT when I have to squeeze in a workout at home, an hour is NOT doable. I just won’t do it haha!
•
My husband is at work before the kids wake up so mornings here are the Jenn show. I try to get up early and get a workout in but thats not always doable but I make the effort because I am not someone who can workout at night. After a full day with my home daycare, my energy at night is non existent!
•
So I make it fit my lifestyle so I can stick with it!
💪 no workouts longer then 35 min
🧘🏼♀️ listen to my body and what it needs that day
☀️ get up early because I’m stronger in the morning then at night
🏡 workout on the weekends when I’m home so if I miss a workout on a hectic workday, that’s fine!
🏋️ pick workouts you enjoy!
•
Just make it work for you, if you like to walk, walk…if you like to swim, swim…if you like to dance, dance…move your body for all around health!
•
Society, media, beauty companies and everything in between have taught us how to hate our bodies at any size. Whether we’re a size 00 or 24 and in between because we’re striving for the “perfect body”.
•
A body without dimples, stretch marks, freckles, big breasts/little breasts, wrinkles, wide hips or narrow hips, pores, any scars and so on. People are striving for a level of perfection that is impossible because it doesn’t exist without computers editing out our supposed “flaws!”.
•
We are not born hating our bodies. This is a learned behaviour and we need to teach our children how to continue celebrating their bodies. Celebrate your body for all that it does. Take care of your body so it can continue to take care of you!
•
Even making statements that my body is far from the “perfect body” (I’m totally guilty of this!) is saying there is something wrong with my body. My body is human, it is real and it has been with me since day 1. I will nurture her, I will continue to praise her and I will work my damndest to love her for all that she is. I will also do my best to promote a world where our bodies aren’t the focus point. We were given bodies for functional purposes not for aesthetics.
•
Who are these people?! Looking refreshed, full of yummy food and child free!!!!!
•
It has been a hot minute since Craig and I spent a night away from the kids…over a year to be exact. A lot has happened in that year and if I said married life with 3 young kids was blissful everyday, I would be lying.
•
We have been together 13 years and the past 4 1/2 years our biggest role has been mom and dad and we are totally happy with that! However, our kids need us to be husband and wife too (easier said then done in this crazy, busy and chaotic life). As most parents, Craig and I pour ourselves into our children and at the end of the day we’re just so tired from all the roles and duties we take on that we don’t have much energy left.
•
We got to be kid free and not talk about the kids this weekend, woot 🎉 ok, maybe we mentioned them once or twice lol But we got to be Craig and Jenn and be our silly selves together. Thanks Gramma and Auntie !
•
How do you prioritize your relationship with your partner? I know, getting away for a night is not feasible for everyone and not an option. But how do you make time for each other?
•
•
It has been a hot minute or a year and a half to be exact since this has happened ❤️ feeling grateful for much needed sister time, sangria, great food, live music and care free dancing! We didn’t get many photos as we were enthralled in our time together and with great friends, thanks COVID for reminding us not to take this time for granted. Love you long time
Lately I have become a human “doing” rather then a human “being”. I rush through our morning routine with anticipation of more littles coming. “Lets go Audrey, make your bed. Come on Ben, time to brush your teeth” is on repeat.
•
We have to get through dinner because clean up needs to happen, then baths, story and bed. Then Craig and I have chores to do if we can somehow muster up the energy. This has left me feeling drained and guilty. My days with lots of kids are filled with present moments but I need to remember to be present just with my family and myself.
•
Yesterday, I was at the beach with the kids by myself and we made sandcastles and looked at different sea shells, we jumped waves and talked about the sand. While on our walk around the campsite, my kids and I sang “living our best life” a song we made up 😆. Anyone who knows me, knows that used to be me 24-7!
•
Somewhere along the way this past year, parenthood, being a wife, a friend, a daughter and just plain human…I lost this part of me. The worry free, adventure bound, can’t carry a tune but makes up my own songs me!
•
But, I’m slowly getting her back. I’m slowly working towards finding that part of me and remembering to be a human “being”! If you’re recognizing that you’re becoming a human doing and you need this reminder to step back and shift your energy, well, here it is!
•

Ladies, stop making yourself small just to make others feel comfortable…
Be real, be loud, be assertive, go after what you want, work for your dreams and be authentically YOU!!
❤️
Reality of being a mom…shower, drink my breakfast and coffee all at the same time.
Nutrition is super important to me, not because of weight but because of energy. We are ALL SUPER BUSY and the more energy we can have, without the crash, the better.
This green smoothie is a non-negotiable for me and now my son wakes up asking for his “smoothie”.
Motherhood does not look pretty haha but this is what my mornings look like.
Recipe linked in bio!

Ben and I love our morning smoothies! One way I get the kids to enjoy healthier options is by bringing them in the kitchen with me. They love baking with me and making their own breakfast. This smoothie is our morning go to.
- cashew milk (nice and creamy!)
- natural peanut butter
- Arbonne greens (the only greens I actually like haha)
- banana
- chocolate shakeology (I also really like Arbonne protein powder as I’m super picky!)
What’s your go to smoothie?!
Fuelling my body right after an intense workout.
•
I LOVE a good morning smoothie, especially in the warmer months. Here is one that my son and I absolutely ❤️!

I’m a mom of three and I felt I was managing fine throughout the first 2 COVID waves. I felt blessed to be home, pregnant, albeit super sick and my heart went out to everyone effected by COVID. But this last lockdown hit me and I needed my passion refueled, I needed a focus for myself other then being a mom, and I needed something to fill my cup even while I’m home.
