Need a referral for massage? This app allows you to book an appointment with a medical doctor through your phone. You can obtain a referral this way if needed.

Massage will continue to be open with a prescription/referral from an MD, chiropractor, acupuncturist, or physiotherapist. This will be required until at least January 21st, 2021. I would love to see for your next massage before then if you are able to fulfill this requirement!

I am back massaging but of course, the Alberta government has implemented that in order to have a massage, clients must provide a note of referral from a medical professional (medical doctor, chiropractor, physiotherapist, acupuncturist, etc).

•For clients to be able to access Massage Therapy Treatments under the current public health measures, they must provide a copy of a prescription from a doctor OR a referral from a Regulated Health Provider for massage therapy PRIOR to their massage therapy service.

•A copy of an existing prescription or referral is valid if issued within the last 12 months.

•The prescription or referral must be provided to the clinic prior to receiving treatment so that we can put it on file. You may bring it with you to your treatment but please note that we are not allowed to provide service without it.

•We have a regulated health professional who can do referrals (chiropractors), at no cost, by appointment only - PRIOR to your massage therapy service.

•Online booking is not available at the moment. Please call the clinic directly to book your next massage.

The newest restrictions have allowed RMT’s to go back to work! ALL of my clients will be required to obtain a referral for massage from their medical doctor, chiropractor, or physical therapist prior to your massage appointment and bring it in to the clinic. RMT’s cannot massage you without this referral so it is recommended that you get this done in advance or else you will be asked to reschedule your massage appointment.

Otherwise, it’s official...I’ll be back massaging on December 28th!!! My schedule is up-to-date from December 28th - January 30th. 💓

Today, during our second day of joint meetings between the Transitional Council for the College of Massage Therapists of Alberta, and the four Massage Therapist Associations in the province we were excited to hear the announcement of a pending limited return of Massage Therapy by Health Minister Shandro (https://youtu.be/_vctftbhQ1A?list=PLvrD8tiHIX1L5LKwB0kl-4aJjkK4OuE-l).

We are waiting to hear specific details from the province and will be providing those to our members as they become available.
We are pleased to announce that today we have finalized a joint draft “COVID-19 Pandemic Practice Guidelines, Protocols and Best Practices for Massage Therapists in Alberta” that will go back to the Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association (CMMOTA), the Certified Registered Massage Therapist Association (CRMTA), the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA), and the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada Association (NHPC) for Board approvals and will be released as quickly as possible. These jointly developed protocols will ensure that all Alberta Health Services and Association guidelines and policies are followed by all members in good standing with one of these Associations. This will ensure the protection of the public and provide clarity for our fellow health care professionals.

We thank all those who have spent time over the past weeks advocating on behalf of the massage therapy profession. We hope that the collective advocacy will move the Government of Alberta towards regulating our profession. We will continue to advocate collectively to have the province allow the full return of Massage Therapy practice and to bring regulation to fruition.

All associations are experiencing a high volume of calls, emails, and inquiries. We would appreciate your patience and understanding as it will take time to respond. Please refrain from contacting our offices for information as we will release information as soon as it becomes available.

Sorry I haven't been very active with my posts lately. September was a busy month as I headed back to school at U of A and decided to tackle 5 classes this semester. I also got away for a quick trip to the mountains and have been working on getting back into a fitness routine again. 😬
