NATIONAL SITUATIONAL AWARENESS DAY!

Hey all! My Name is Debbie I'm a Damsel Pro of Damsel in Defense, a personal protection company. In honor of Situational Awareness Day, I want to share with you the top 3 Advanced Situational Awareness tips!

1. One of the most challenging elements of situational awareness involves predicting the actions of the people around you. It’s a difficult skill to imagine future danger, but it’s one that can get easier with time. When you enter a new location or observe suspicious behavior, try to imagine what would happen if things went poorly. Actively working on your ability to identify potential threats can be crucial in improving your situational awareness and automatically choosing an appropriate response to danger.

2. Stay vigilant and keep an active mindset. Situational Awareness requires constant monitoring of what’s going on around you. While this might seem exhausting at first, it eventually becomes habit. Create a habit of locating the exits of every space you walk into for when flight is necessary.

3. While training your mind to be aware of your surroundings is crucial, you need to be able to recognize when you should have a second form of defense ready to fight. Make sure to have your personal protection items within an arm’s reach if you ever need to grab something. Muscle memory is a key component of using your personal protection items. For example, practice flipping the actuator on your pepper spray back and forth while you’re walking to your car to create muscle memory. Then, if you ever need to use it and your adrenaline kicks in you will still be able to grab your device, flip the actuator and spray your attacker.
