Happy new year from the entire Afritech Hub team to you. We look forward to having a tech filled year with you.

Even though the representation of women across key industries has increased in recent years, so much can still be done.
We have to recognize the roles women can play in leadership, decision making, tech and development.
Today is a good day to have conversations about how to make industries more inclusive, how to challenge existing mindsets that limit women and how to work collaboratively towards giving women the platform to thrive.
It takes all of us to make the changes we need.
Today we celebrate teachers. A quintessential part of building a thriving community is having people dedicated towards impacting generation after generation with the necessary skills, attitudes and principles that’ll go a long way towards achieving this.
Teachers are selfless and at AfriTech Hub, we can’t sideline the role they play towards achieving our objective of creating the next generation of innovative and creative leaders through STEM.
If you are teacher, we celebrate you always but especially today. Cheers 🥂
STEM Clubs are back!!!!
This time even more exciting.
This academic year, our STEM clubs will not only introduce kids to tech related concepts, but we will be preparing them for several international competitions to test their knowledge and give them room for more opportunities.
We will run solely on weekends so this doesn’t interfere with school work.
Email, call or text us to register.
PS: The registration fee is a ONE TIME payment.

Happy international day for women and girls in science.
Only about 18 to 31% of science researchers in Sub-Saharan Africa are women. Today we celebrate the women who have overcome stereotypes and stood out, and we encourage a new generation of women to take up space and work towards closing the gender gap in science.
One way of motivating women and girls to pursue science related careers is the representation of positive role models who they can emulate.
At Afritech Hub, we’re committed to inspiring a new generation of creative and innovative thinkers through STEM. Our network of professionals are always available to provide mentorship to mentees registered under our network.
Swipe to see how much fun we have with the girls in our community.
P.S : tap the link in our bio to read about how to leverage female talent in STEM and the importance of role models.
As we commemorate the , we are reminded that quality education is the key to leapfrog development. Opening doors for young people through education by connecting them to opportunities will continue to be our goal.
We must not forget the over 680,000 Cameroonians whose education have been disrupted as they are now displaced from their homes as a result of the ongoing crisis in the restive English speaking parts of the country. Our thoughts and prayers to you.
Best wishes to all our girls applying for the summer program in the US.
Go get it!

Hear from Acha Rha’ah, an Engineering student at the University of Buea, about her experience in the just-ended coding bootcamp.
Unedited with every quirk and flaw 😉
This is an appreciation post to the judges - mentor , Founder Akwo , the managing Director of the American Spaces, UB and all the others who took out time to diligently evaluate the projects pitched.
They asked throbbing questions and gave suggestions on how they participants can improve their work.
Thank you very much! We are grateful to have you in our community of techies.
Finally, this set of three girls took the stage to pitched their project - an e-commerce website to improve the shopping experience of buyers and sellers.
The need for a commercial revamp in Cameroon motivated them to build a platform where sellers can showcase products and buyers can make payments and make purchases.
We thought that this was a really cool idea as their prototype was user-friendly, bug-free, vibrant and innovative. They called their startup FAJ.com - which denotes the first letter of each of their names. Super cool.
The judges thought they project has a lot of potential and they were declared WINNERS OF THE AFRITECH HUB PITCH CONTEST. Their winner package includes an Orange Modem with 150G of Internet, 3 months premium access to an online coding course, internship at a startup in the summer months (like everyone else at the camp), and mentorship.
Congratulations ladies. You make us so proud.
“Girls in STEM”
This set of girls are as passionate are we are about connecting girls who are interested in STEM together for inspiration.
This platform brings girls together for learning, mentorship, and funding.
“The benefit of our project is that it helps the participants of any event to stay connected with each other and share opportunities”, says Mbikang Ruth.
This amazing group built a website to keep the energy of any training program going, even after said program through mentorship, sharing opportunities, and networking.
Good job, ladies.
Moved by their compassion towards street children, this group of budding techies built a humanitarian platform to support children in need.
Their platform, called Happy Child will enable legit children in need of financial assistance put up a profile with the help of their guidance and benevolent donors can make contributions to support these children in need.
Giving back to the community is a core value at AfriTech Hub and seeing other young women express this value through tech gave us exceeding joy.
On December 17th, we successfully closed the coding bootcamp for girls in tech, with a Pitch Contest.
We are grateful to all the participants, Xilinx WTM Buea American Corner -University of Buea, our pitch judges Akwo Ashangndowah from , Jemea Lady Limunga and our exceptional mentors.
During this camp, we moved these budding techies from beginner level in Front-End coding to intermediary level. Thanks to the selfless mentors who patiently walked through every step with them. Selma Ndi (DataGirl)- IMBA Jenniline Ebai, Alice, Franck and Yaya, thank you!
These ladies will move on to taking up internship placements at several startups in the community who like us, are passionate about equipping this generation of future innovators.
Next post for more on the group projects that were pitched.
