After 20 years experience in the medical field, hardships, and true grit, Dr. Michael W. Redner founded his own private medical practice, High Peaks Medicine, PLLC. Michael was born and raised in Boonville, NY and beat overwhelming odds to be where he is today. He climbed his way up facing some unimaginable circumstances including being born to teenage parents, two home fires, and financial hardships.
Dr. Redner experienced a dirt bike accident at 9 years old where he sustained multiple head and facial injuries leading him to the hospital where a doctor reassured his family and put him on the path to recovery. That experience inspired him to pursue a career in medicine. Dr. Redner excelled in academics and and completed his licensed practical nursing (LPN) certification while in Adirondack high school through BOCES graduating salutatorian and valedictorian from those institutions. His academic performance earned him a Founder’s Scholarship to Syracuse University where he studied Pre-Med/Biology.
During that time, Dr. Redner worked as an LPN at Masonic Home and later Loretto Nursing Home in Syracuse to help pay for his tuition. In 2005, Dr. Redner decided to return to school in hopes of becoming a Physician Assistant (PA) and enrolled at Stony Brook University where he earned his master’s degree in 2007. For the next four years he worked as a PA and the scope of his vision became even clearer. Originally hoping to be a urologist, Dr. Redner became increasingly concerned with the medical field’s transition to corporate franchising and the liberal prescription of opiates.
He wanted to be a part of a more empathetic and natural approach to healing patients and that’s when he decided to change his focus to Osteopathic Family Medicine. In 2011, he enrolled at University of New England from which he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015. He then

In 2011, he enrolled at University of New England from which he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015. He then began his residency at St. Elizabeth Hospital and in 2018, he joined a private practice in New Hartford. After three years at that local practice, Dr. Redner finally opened his own office in May 2021, High Peaks Medicine.

In addition to family medicine, Dr. Redner has extensive training in osteopathic manipulation which is a successful treatment used for musculoskeletal pain. Dr. Redner uses a series of maneuvers to realign and adjust the body providing pain relief in many patients. Dr. Redner is well known by his colleagues in the area for performing OMT and many patients are referred to our office by local area physicians.

With the support and guidance of friends, family, colleagues and also a loyal patient following, Dr. Redner was able to successfully put together a growing medical practice. Our office currently employs a dream team of 4 additional staff members including his wife and office manager, Audrey Galiulo, two LPNs, Brianna Schneider and Cheryl Lincoln-Lovely, and a medical assistant Cassandra Meeker. We continue to stand out among the big medical practices in the area, catering to families and offering a more exclusive feel. Our patients feel seen, heard, and cared for. Our google business reviews speak for themselves and we continue to strive to be better than the rest, offering a higher level of attention and care. We are currently accepting new patients and our services include, primary care, OMT, dermatology and minor skin procedures, pain management, addiction medicine, botox and fillers, and telehealth services.

02/01/2022

After a nice holiday break, we are SO excited to be back tomorrow with special guest Kathy Beaver, Vice President of Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired - CABVI!

At CABVI, Kathy manages a rehabilitation staff of 28 rehabilitation professionals including vision rehabilitation therapists, teachers of the visually impaired, low vision optometrists, orientation and mobility instructors, clinical social workers, case managers and adaptive sports and recreation staff. The population served by CABVI is demographically diverse including infants, youth, and the elderly; and represent a wide range of visual impairments from visually impaired to legally blind.

Although her roots and start in the field focused on expanding employment opportunities for those with disabilities, after 25 years in the vision field, Kathy believes that Adaptive Sports and Recreation (ASR) programming as the most influential rehabilitation program an agency or organization can offer.

Under Kathy’s leadership, CABVI has developed one of the largest ASR programs in the country serving adults and children, including Camp Abilities. Kathy often expresses that “If we can empower individuals with visual impairments to believe in themselves and their abilities, through engagement in ASR, this belief will impact successful rehabilitation.” Her love of winter sports has resulted in the development of the first winter Camp Ability programs in the world, held in the Adirondack Mountains.

Kathy has successfully built productive, long term relationships with numerous individuals, businesses and industry leaders both within and outside the field of blindness rehabilitation. These relationships have been and continue to, play an important role in her ongoing efforts to provide innovative, progressive and expansive programming. Kathy is quick to acknowledge that her strong rehab team is the reason for success, “They are passionate, hard-working individuals who embrace our mission and are motivated to improve the lives of those with visual impairment. I am fortunate to be their leader.”

More recently, Kathy developed a strong relationship with USA Blind Hockey cumulated in the first US Blind Hockey Training Camp held in 2018. CABVI was selected as the ‘home’ for the USA Blind Team for the next three years.

Under the guidance and direction of Kathy in 2018, CABVI Board of Directors implemented a strategic plan to expand services and programming with the new, 23,000 sq. ft. building rehabilitation center. CABVI is embracing a new approach to health and wellness, adding physical therapy, occupational therapy, research, education, nutrition, counseling and diabetic education to the rehabilitation team. The focus will be one of overall wellness, addressing root causes of vision loss, early intervention in eye disease diagnosis and all aspects of individual health.
