Maun FCU Has a C.A.M.E.L. Rating of 2, Here’s Why It Matters:

As a federal credit union, Maun FCU is subject to audits by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) which serve to ensure that Maun’s operations are up to regulatory standards. The C.A.M.E.L. rating system is a method that the NCUA uses to quantify how effectively a credit union adheres to the set standards of practice. The rating system is between 1 and 5, 1 being the highest, and Maun FCU’s rating is 2. This means that Maun FCU has been found to excel in Capital Adequacy, Asset Quality, Management, Earnings, and Liquidity. In short, since our founding in 2021, Maun FCU has continually improved the management and quality of our operations, which is reflected in our high C.A.M.E.L. rating.

As Muslims, navigating financial decisions while trying to avoid interest can be overwhelming. Whether we’re trying to build our credit, buy a vehicle, or finance education or a real estate purchase, it seems that usury is a necessary evil, but it doesn’t have to be. A Federal Credit Union is “a member-owned and controlled, not-for-profit, cooperative financial institution formed to provide its members with affordable and safe financial services," as defined by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA).

This means that Maun Federal Credit Union is owned BY our members, operates FOR our members, and safeguards the ASSETS of our Muslim community.

Maun FCU is the first federally accredited Islamic credit union in the United States. We provide a faith-based financial structure that serves to protect our members from usury whenever possible.
