Rainbow Beach Dunes
Rainbow Beach Dunes is the Natural Area at Rainbow Beach Park and is managed by the Chicago Park District.
This stewardship program has been active since 2009 and restoration has been ongoing since 2004.

Curveball?
When a Piping Plover arrived at Rainbow Beach on Tuesday sporting a green band on its right leg, we gasped. Could it be? We wouldn't put it past Monty, son of Yogi, to throw us a curveball. (Check out Monty and Rose 2 on WTTW11/PBS Chicago this Thursday if you don't know about Yogi. Quite the character!)
While this Piping Plover was not Monty, we remained thrilled to see another Piping Plover and certainly wouldn't mind if it choose to stay! Rainbow Beach has been deemed by experts to be the most promising possible additional Piping Plover nesting site in Chicago.
