We apply the squat with all of our clients. We use them for fat loss, hypertrophy, strength, and power goal directed training. We squat low, hip below knee, and use various tempos, rep schemes, rest periods, wedges, and specialty bars to get the job done, all while keeping the training fun and challenging. 3 Reasons We Squat Full ROM With Our Clients Squats Build Strong Legs Full range-of-motion squats optimally target the hip and knee musculature, while increasing the transfer of force throughout the kinetic chain for greater jump height. They require 70-80 motor unit recruitment and are great for developing torso strength. Full Squats Are Safe Full squats build structural balance by training the paraspinal muscles of the lower back in conjunction with the gluteals for greater athleticism and better posture. Full squats keep you honest and require a strong lower back. Not only do full squats strengthen bone and protect the lower back, they are all-around safer for the spine because they require lighter loads than partials. Full Squats Improve Bone Density Full barbell squatting loads the spine and has been found to significantly increase bone mineral density. We allocate the last 10 minutes of our upper body sessions to address remedial shoulder exercises. Placing an emphasis on scapular retraction, external rotation, and shoulder abduction can help keep the shoulder joint healthy by reducing training injuries, and eliminating weak areas. Improving remedial function at the shoulder has a high carry over to upper body pushing and pulling strength as well.
