First of all I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your concern n unwavering support during my arrest n subsequent efforts for my release . I’m indebted to the overwhelming response by all of you with your calls, texts, messages. Alhumdulillah I’m safe now & out of that traumatic experience. Today I met with the Iron Lady, Dr Yasmin Rashid at ATC . Despite such a long time in jail she had a big smile on her face She was in high spirits and thanked for all the support from the overseas She asked me to convey her message to all the overseas Pakistanis to call all of their friends n families n ask them to go out n cast vote on February 8th. She said that was the only way to get IK out of jail. She was so composed, n maintained a smile while in the court. Salam to her courage n commitment. Let’s all call our friends n families to vote. Insha’Allah PTI will win despite all the adversaries.

7 Ways to Increase Your Empathic Listening Skills

Here are some of the recommendations I make to help people enhance their empathic listening and their ability to express empathy:

Reflect what others say to you: by either repeating or rephrasing what someone has said. It sounds like you had a lot going on today at work, right?

Emphasize the feeling behind the words: and check on the accuracy of your interpretation. You sound exhausted. Is there something affecting you at work?

Pay attention to body language:
You look tense. What can I do to help?

Ask open-ended questions: to show you are interested in their perspective. How was your day at the office? Not, Why are you so late?

Slow down and take a deep breath to calm yourself: if you are feeling your buttons being pushed or if you are absorbing someone else’s tension. Slowing down your emotional reactions can be helpful for truly tuning in to another person and not being tripped up by your own reactivity. Some people have found that mindfulness meditation, self-compassion, or compassion training can help with this kind of emotional regulation.

Avoid snap judgments:
Empathy means seeing human beings as always changing and evolving; so you don’t want to judge and shut the person down.

Learn from the past:
If you are unaware of your own biases and often jump to conclusions, you will have trouble truly listening to another person and perceiving them accurately. Know your personal biases and use cognitive reframing—a technique that involves reconsidering your interpretations of events,--to help you reevaluate what’s actually happening in a given conflict or situation versus what you’re telling yourself at the time. By engaging your brain in this way, you can rewire it to be less emotionally triggered and to calm your nervous system.

Learning to communicate with empathy can go a long way toward building more positivity in your relationships and reducing your stress. If we all focused more on listening and understanding each other, the world would be a lot less stressful,and a lot happier place to live.

As the election is just around the corner so I conducted a survey at Lahore regarding people’s opinion whom they will vote in election 2024. It’s worth mentioning that many people told me that they would vote for Imran Khan but they didn’t want to be on the camera.

I made sure to visit Zille Shah’s family in Lahore in my recent trip to Pakistan. Who can forget Zille Shah’s sacrifice for Imran Khan. He was brutally killed during the attempt to arrest IK. His “sin” was that he was a die hard tiger of PTI, a devoted worker n a passionate follower of Imran Khan. It was nice to meet such a decent family with dignity. Despite the time that has passed, their grief is fresh. His mother showed me his picture album n told me that she keeps it next to her pillow while she sleeps every night. She thanked me for coming, hugged me n cried n cried. I felt so sad n helpless. His father remembered his son very affectionately & felt proud of his bravery n sacrifice for Imran Khan. He told me that when his body was brought home, Zille Shah’s face was bright like a sunshine which gave him some sukoon. They asked me to convey their message to Khan sahb that they are proud of their son’s sacrifice & that they still stand by him even more for their son’s devotion for the cause. The message is conveyed.
I left the place with a heavy heart n prayed to Allah that the family gets justice & everyone involved in this brutality gets punished. بیشک اللّٰہ کہ ہاں دیر ہے اندھیر نہیں
Zille Shah’s sacrifice will not go wasted Insha’Allah. May Allah give sabr to the family for the loss of their innocent son 🙏
