💕 Proving to yourself that it’s possible!
Anyone who has tried anything new will know the feeling of doubt and uncertainty that you sometimes feel. This clip is a short example of proving to yourself that you can do this challenging thing. 💪 This phrase has been tricky to get at in one breath, but we agreed that we wanted the carry-over there for the sake of expression. We kept at it, and this is a moment when it clicked!
🥰 I LOVE helping singers of all ages find ways to achieve the expression that they want. It’s always exciting!
If you’re ready to dig into your artistic expression in singing, let’s talk! Visit my website to set up a call. ☺️
🎵Matching pitch! A skill that many people associate with either being a singer or not. I’m here to tell you that skill can be learned! In many cases, it’s a matter of getting comfortable singing a wider range of notes.
In this example, this student is working on hearing a pitch given from the piano. They have no problem repeating after me, so this is just another skill that we’ve been working on. As soon as I mention the note to listen for, she’s able to tune in and catch it. That’s fine-tuning her awareness! ✨
✨Posture!
Leading with the chin is one of those habits that can be hard to break. This singer has made huge leaps away from the tension that she once carried while singing. One of the ways we address that is with adjustments to posture. On this day, it made sense for us not to stand up. Ideally we would be standing and working on alignment.
Rest your hand on your sternum and gently touch your chin. Just let that be your reminder not to lead your chin out too far. Try it and see if the reminder changes how your body feels as you sing! ❤️
💡Lightbulb moment!
I love when singers make discoveries about their own voices. This student and I have been working on singing above her break for a while. There have been moments of success and days when it just wasn’t working. On this occasion, she finds a strategy and puts it in her own words. So we go with that! I love that you can see her excitement as she figures it out. ❤️
🥰 Wow. How lucky I feel to have a voice. I am grateful for a job that allows me to use my voice every day. I love my voice, and I love to sing.
I haven’t always loved my voice. Comparison used to determine how I felt about it. I used to compare myself to every other singer I knew, and criticize myself for not sounding like them. This is still a big reason why singing competitions are so not my favorite place to be. No amount of compliments will ever give me the satisfaction of feeling grateful for my voice, just as it is, every day. I hope you love your voice, too.
I’m excited for you to be thinking about this! Every week I hear from a musician who wants to be able to sustain more singing in their life. But they already recognize that they aren’t able to sing as long as they can play, and that’s a problem.
As we work together in singing lessons, you’ll start to feel better while you’re singing, and learn how to live a healthier singing lifestyle with personal support.
✨Your voice is your own, and it absolute magic. I hope you keep using it. 💕
I hear this all the time! Do high notes freak you out? Do you feel strained trying to sing certain notes? Depending on your particular challenge in your upper range, voice teachers can create a plan to help you reach that goal (and those notes)!
If this is you, I’d love to talk! Comment here or send me a message. ✨
Making music with other people. That’s my favorite.
Here are a few of the most memorable performance experiences that I actually remembered to get a photo of in the past few years. Thank you for the music, everyone!
What even counts as “practice,” and why do we do it? With regular voice lessons, you’ll learn how to spend your time practicing strategically so that you are consistently and measurably furthering your development as an artist.
How do you practice?
Ooh! Take a moment to sit with that. Your voice IS powerful.
What else is your voice?
What one singing goal do you have that would change your life if you could accomplish it? Let’s dream big!
This notebook is filled with dreams and learning and feelings about the first year in my studio business. I’ve had coaches shifting my mindset and teaching me to trust myself. I’ve had amazing businesswomen show me possibilities for my life and business. I’ve had a lot of big, creative ideas come through me. As I filled in the last page of this notebook, I gave a big thanks to all of the people that have graced the pages, gifting me their wisdom and encouragement. If you’ve talked with me about business or life this year, you are in here. Thank you for your gift. ✨💕

Spent this week diving into my favorite repertoire, and I’m heading into a weekend making music with some of my family and favorite local musicians. ✨ feeling so deeply grateful for the writers of music.
I’m so grateful to be able to do the thing that I love, with the singers that I see each day. Not only are they really gifted, but they are just a joy to know. 💕
Yes, it most certainly is. 💕✨
Let’s be conscious about the messages we tell ourselves, singers.
Went home a couple of weeks ago and realized that I hum around the house, just like my mom. Sometimes it’s an actual song, but a lot of the time it’s just…nothing in particular at all. The realization that I get that from her really warms my heart. 💕
🏠 How is singing present in your home?
Did you have Halloween songs that you love to sing? I remember making purple people eater masks in elementary school. So much fun!
🎃What are your favorite October songs?
✨I love my job, and I love my studio families!
What could you accomplish with a little more encouragement and confidence? 💞
