NOT-SO-FUN-FACT as e-commerce soars, so do retailer's carbon footprints 👣 ⭐️Here's how LocallyTO is helping reduce that:
FACT: 📦 2 items shipped separately produce 35% more emissions than the same items shipped together. Locally packages up all of your items so you get ONE delivery.
FACT: 🚛Logistics of getting a product to the customer (or in the case of returns, back to the retailer/ warehouse) accounts for 94% of CO2. By eliminating long-haul deliveries (outside of the country or even province) we significantly reduce that impact.

If you're interested and invested in reducing your carbon footprint, shopping Locally is a no-brainer! 🧠

Introducing our newest friends, Ben and Rom, co-owners of BSIDE Beauty 👋

From their roots in hospitality to opening two salons, the North Star driving them has been to "make life more beautiful."

💇‍♀️ First they opened JUSTB salon, providing hair services for Leslieville locals.

💅 They expanded to open BSIDE offering full beauty services including manicures, pedicures, lashes, waxing and makeup.

🧴 Over the years they’ve evolved and now offer a carefully curated selection of beauty and wellness products like local and natural skincare products, organic supplements, and luxury hair and beauty products!

🚗 Since the pandemic, they even started to offer mobile services to make beauty more accessible to everyone.

Three words that describe these salons AND these awesome Entrepreneurs:

👋 Meet Becca Meadows, owner of Sadelmager Design House (www.sadelmager.ca), who is meticulously creating both sustainable and ethically sourced leather goods right here in the GTA!

We are excited to work with Becca, and share her beautiful work with you all.

Some fun facts about Becca:
⚰️ Before starting Sadelmager, Becca was training to be a funeral director, but after becoming ill she realized she needed to find something more flexible.
💼 She started Sadelmager after feeling frustrated with the selection available to her,
finding she had to to either compromise on sustainability, or style.
🐎 Becca Incorporates traditional saddlery techniques passed down from her father.
🌾She began selling her items at farmers markets, creating pieces with traditional techniques, timeless designs but with modern branding.

Becca says “It's about reinvigorating the everyday and making it extraordinary through wearable pieces of art”

Toronto loves a patio! 🌞

Day or night, sidewalk or back deck, if there’s a patio, we are there!

The first patio in TO is said to have opened in 1963, and as we all know, the city’s love affair with outdoor dining has only grown stronger in recent times (thanks COVID!)

Cheers to this weekend’s patio-ing! 🍻

👋 Meet Jennifer Moore, owner of Fit 2 Fly Apparel, an athletic apparel manufacturer in Toronto that we're super excited to work with!

A woman of many talents, here's 3 of our favourite facts about Jennifer:

🎪 Prior to opening Fit 2 Fly, Jennifer was performing circus arts and coaching dance!
💃 She started Fit 2 Fly to provide the right type of clothing for the right type of performance; tight-fitting apparel for circus and flowy pieces for dance to look and feel the part.
👚🎽 To expand beyond her community customers, she created the Featured Collection Program where a studio can have their custom logo added to her locally made apparel. "The great thing about this program is that there is no cost to the studio owner to buy a large inventory of stock to then re-sell themselves," Moore explains.

Small businesses keep our country going!

Not only do they provide jobs, but on average small businesses account for about 40% of everything we make and sell in Canada! That's huge! And pretty dope in our 📚

⛔️ 3 reasons to say NO to :

1. Low quality - you know what they say, "you get what you pay for."
2. Environmental impact & Human Rights violations. FF has a detrimental impact on the planet and the people involved in garment production.
3. Lack of size inclusivity; cost and exclusive-sizing are still barriers for many.

What do you do to avoid buying into fast fashion?
