#110 Samantha Foster has lived in fear and torment for most of her life at the hands of abusive men. It first began when she was 3 years old living with a what she calls a "narcissistic sociopath" step-father. He sexually abused, r***d and tortured her mother. He tortured, abused and molested her and her siblings. He would hang her and her family members up by their hands and arms on the back porch and then proceed to whip and beat them. He threatened to cut off her ears or nose while holding a knife to her face. As she describes the scene...it sounds like a living hell that she called daily life.

At the age of 18, Samantha was finally able to run away from this demented step-father but the cycle of abuse only continued with other men. You see, when you know nothing else by abuse it is the only "familiar" life you know...especially when you were not taught any social or adult life skills.

In her late 40's, Samantha was in an abusive relationship with a man that said that he was going to kill her. He had tied her up and then went to go grab his knife in the other room. She was ready to die. She imagined the knife piercing her skin, going through her body and into her heart. In her mind, it would finally be over. The torment, the torture, the abuse would all be over and she was ready.

In a moment...everything changed. Her life has never been the same since that day and she recounts the story with Shawn and Jen in this powerful and unforgettable episode of the Hope Radio Podcast. You will hear how Samantha survived that fateful day and how she turned her pain and torture into a mission to help others. This is a must listen to episode of the Hope Radio Podcast!

#108 Jason Breska will be the first person to admit that he grew up in a very rough environment. He grew up in unimaginable poverty often roaming the streets of Brooklyn as a young boy. As he tells it, you either became part of a gang or you found a way out through sports. Jason's first choice was to get involved with sports. In his neighborhood there was a place called Shorefront that had a gymnasium where the local kids all congregated to play basketball. One of the employees of Shorefront used to leave the side door open for kids that didn't have the money to pay to use the facility. Outside looking in, this person was helping the less fortunate kids in the neighborhood. However, there was something far more sinister at play and this "helpful benefactor" was actually farming kids to feed to a local predator. In the neighborhood, he was known by the kids as the Boogieman of Brighton Beach. He was a child predator...

#106 The Hope Radio Podcast was started to give hope to the hopeless. Our original thought was that if we could bring people on to share their life stories of overcoming significant challenges or adversity, those stories would be a lamp post of HOPE for others. Our HOPE was that people would listen and then think...if Jane Smith was able to make it through what she went through...maybe I can make it through what I am dealing with now!

MISTIE LAYNE's story could not be a better example of our mission. Her story is INCREDIBLE. Maybe it is her southern charm. Maybe it is the fact that she has overcome some of the most significant challenges that we have heard from a guest yet. Maybe it was God showing up and showing out in her life. If you need HOPE NOW, this is a must listen to episode of the Hope Radio Podcast! It will be difficult to stay hopeless if you listen to the unbelievable story that Mistie shares.

Please join Shawn and Jen as they sit down with Mistie to discuss her life and how God redeemed her after she accidentally took the life of an innocent person in drug deal gone wrong.

Rhett Seevers was born on February 7, 1997. His proud parents, Beth and Randy Seevers brought home their bundle of joy to join their family of four. At four months, they were devastated by the news that their little boy had severe cerebral palsy and would face a life full of challenges. They dove in headfirst and learned all they could about his disabilities. On March 13, 2004, after 7 years of full-time care, love, and devotion, Rhett passed away at home unexpectedly with his family by his side.

In the spring of 2005, as the anniversary of Rhett’s death approached, a friend of Beth’s introduced her to running. She learned of the 1st annual Shamrock’n ½ marathon. It was ironically being held on the first anniversary of Rhett’s passing. Completing the run was such an inspiration to Beth. The following year, she asked that her friends and family join her. Join her they did; 35 additional friends and family donned the first baby blue running shirts that year. In the spring of 2007, with the addition of an organized training group, over 125 people participated in the race.

On December 7, 2007, the “Runnin’ for Rhett Non-Profit” was founded. The organization has now inspired 1000’s of youth and adults in the Sacramento area.

In Rhett’s short life, he inspired many people with his infectious smile and will to live, but with his challenges, he could not walk, run or jump – no matter how hard he tried. After Rhett’s death, Beth and Randy dedicated their memory of Rhett to utilizing FITNESS and MOVING to help others do what Rhett wanted to do so badly but couldn’t. Please visit www.runninforrhett.org for more information about upcoming events or to make a donation!

Please join Shawn and Jen as they sit down and talk with Beth and Randy Seevers about Rhett, their charity "Runnin for Rhett" and how it has given them HOPE out of the ashes of their tragic loss. This is a must listen to episode of the HOPE RADIO PODCAST!

#102 The Seed of Hope Foundation was initially started by Jacqueline Barnes but has since been entrusted in the caring hands of her daughter, Gwendolyn Young. The foundation was created to empower young women to fulfill their God given gifts and talents. There are too many young women in situations where they feel alone and isolated with little hope of rising above their present circumstances. Gwendolyn and Jacqualine want to make sure these young women know their worth and have the skills, abilities and HOPE to change their lives for the better.

Emotional intelligence as a life skill is positively connected to a teenage girl's ability to develop a healthy self-perception, healthy relationships, and cope with challenging life situations. By providing life skill programs that create a safe environment, teenage girls can develop critical skill sets in communication, decision making, and goals to combat destructive behaviors. By strengthening their self-esteem and building emotional intelligence, Jacqualine and Gwendolyn believe their organization is providing their girls with the fertile soil in which to grow other aspects of their lives.

Please join Shawn and Jen as they sit down with the founders of the Seed of Hope Foundation to discuss changing the lives of young women. This is a powerful episode for any young woman to hear and absorb. You won't want to miss it!

#99 Phil Holland was in his early 20's when he had a job delivering pizza's in Philadelphia. It wasn't even his turn to deliver that night but a fellow employee didn't care to do a delivery so close to closing so Phil decided he would take it. The order came it at 10:45PM and the pizza business closed at 11PM. Phil made the delivery and he had just gotten into his car when his life changed forever.

Phil had no idea that police were looking for an armed black man that had been in the area of his delivery although he knew the area was a rough area for gang violence. The man they were looking for was almost a foot taller than Phil but that isn't obvious when you are sitting in your car. He also had no idea that the two men that were approaching his car in plain clothes were cops. Phil thought he was about to get robbed...

#98 The decision to have an abortion is never an easy decision. For some women it can have a tremendous negative effect on the quality of their faith, emotional health and wellbeing. Some women suffer in silence wrestling with lifelong guilt and remorse over their decision. Many women take their "secret" to the grave never having told anyone. Women are not the only one's to suffer...many men can also suffer over the mutual decision to terminate a pregnancy.

In this extremely POWERFUL episode of the Hope Radio Podcast, Shawn and Jen sit down with Melodie Ann Streety to hear her story. Raw, real and RIVITING...Melodie will share her story about having a great childhood but losing her way in her early 20's. Melodie will share that through God's love and healing, she has been able to find PEACE, HOPE and REDEMPTION. She is no longer held captive by guilt and she has used her experience to come alongside other young women considering an abortion. God put ISAIAH 54 on her spirit and she has used his whispers to move forward with her calling.

This is a must listen to message for any person suffering with the guilt of an abortion. We want to thank Melodie for her COURAGE, her TRUTH and her VULNERABILITY. Publicly sharing her story is one of the most courageous stories that we have ever heard!

#97 Rebecca Hampton knew as soon as she saw the facebook post that she had to do something to help. It was that still small voice whispering in her spirit that she should see if she was a potential kidney donor for this family in need. It seemed like a remote chance that she would actually have to donate given all the tests and conditions that she would have to pass to be eligible. Then....the tests came back and she was a match!!! Now the real test of her faith, strength and resolve began!

In this episode of the Hope Radio Podcast, Shawn and Jen sit down to talk with Rebecca Hampton about organ donation. This is a fascinating discussion with Rebecca about all of the good and bad about her experience saving the life of someone else! #96 Let's all agree that Mom's have a difficult job. Toss in a pandemic and all the chaos that it brings and it would be difficult to find a more challenging job on the planet than being a Mom. Our next guest on the Hope Radio Podcast knows a lot about Mom's and the struggles they go through on a daily basis. In today's episode, Shawn and Jen sit down with Dr. Delene Musielak to discuss her life and her thoughts on how the pandemic has effected moms across the country!

Dr. Delene Musielak feels very blessed for multiple reasons, but especially for her amazing husband and triplets (a.k.a. The Tripsies). Luke, Ethan and Alina have added to the excitement in her life. “When you find out you’re having a child, much less multiples, the joy that fills you is unexplainable. Matthew and I were praying for twins and got triplets. God threw in an extra blessing for us!”

As a full time physician, super mom of triplets, wife, author and entrepreneur, Dr. Musielak has somehow managed to find time to start her own show, The Dr. Mom Show, in addition to pursuing her dream of writing.

“My number one priority is to share the love of Christ. I’ve only made it this far because of Him. I pray that others will be encouraged by my life and experiences. I want to be a history maker, but I want to do so by sharing His legacy.”

‘“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”’ (Jeremiah 29:11).
