April is Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer Awareness Month. Each year in the United States, over 71,000 people are diagnosed with some form of oral, head, or neck cancer, and over 16,000 people die from oral, head, or neck cancer. Worldwide, over 400,000 people die from oral, head, or neck cancer every year.

Rick Agee Foundation chairman Kerry Agee, board members EL Biggerstaff, Dirk TenEyck, James McKee, and Bill Smith, and advisor Benjamin Agee founded the Foundation in 2022 promote research, raise awareness, and provide support for those suffering from oral, head, and neck cancers. We also support education through a scholarship program and provide direct support to cancer patients and survivors.

Welcome to June! June is Cancer Survivor Month, when we pay tribute to those who have survived their brave battles with cancer. Everyone knew someone who lost their battle with cancer, and everyone knows someone who survived cancer. We must honor the memories of those who succumbed to cancer in part by celebrating the lives of those who survived cancer. Ultimately we hope that every year more people survive cancer, and every survival is cause for celebration.

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and May 2 is National Melanoma Day. Approximately 78,000 people, on average, are diagnosed with melanoma every year. Dermatologists and other medical professionals wish to encourage people to wear sunscreen, occasionally check yourself for any irregularities on your skin, and to visit your dermatologist for a skin cancer screening.

Meet the Directors! The Rick Agee Foundation would like to introduce you to its board of directors. (L-R) Kerry Agee, Bill Smith, James McKee, EL Biggerstaff, and Dirk TenEyck. Each director knew Rick personally, and their relationships with Rick fostered a passion for raising awareness about oral, head, and neck cancers.

Today we are celebrating what would have been Rick's 63rd birthday. Help us celebrate by turning on some music, drinking an ice cold adult beverage, and living life as best as you can.

March is the official Cancer Awareness Month for kidney cancer, multiple myeloma, and colon and a**l cancers. If you or someone you know suffers from one of these cancers, consider reaching out to them and learning how you can be supportive and raise awareness.

Though Rick did not suffer from any of these types of cancer, he was supportive of all who were fighting their own battles, and the only way we can prevent further suffering is to work together to raise awareness and find cures.

Today marks seven years since Rick lost his courageous battle with cancer. Rick devoted much of his time helping those in similar situations, and his bravery in the face of a negative prognosis serves as an inspiration to us to this day.
