It has come to our attention that the organizers for Tikkun Chai Inter-National have been deemed "unsafe" by the activist community. One of the organizers posted a woman's picture to doxx her claiming she was a police officer because she disagreed with the organizer. The woman's picture was removed after hours of being posted. You can see the link in the comments for what has transpired. They have a protest today at 5:00 PM called Denounce: Support Rally for 'Blue' Chicago PD that was scheduled to have interpreters. After learning this information, our interpreters will no longer be attending. Unfortunately, we can't personally vouch for every organization or guarantee safety at these events. But when we become aware of something like this, we will do our best to let you know. Please be safe.

Transcript: Hello everyone! Recently a new fund was established called on Venmo. The reason it was set up was to make sure Black, Indigenous, and POC Interpreters who go to work at protests for the Black Lives Matter movement here in Chicago can be paid. The money collected will be used to pay these interpreters when organizations do not have the funds to be able to pay interpreters. We then use our fund to pay the interpreters. Any funds leftover will be given to BIPOC Deaf people who want to pursue certification or become an interpreter. Benny (name sign), Chelsea (name sign), Havalah (name sign), and Jen (Jen) set up a separate Venmo account, not attached to anyone's personal account. We are not profiting from this fund in any way. Only interpreters who are BIPOC: Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color will receive payment for their work through . If you want to show your support and donate to the fund, we would greatly appreciate it. Donations can be sent through Venmo, again, . If you or your organization would like to partner with us or if you have any questions or concerns, contact us at [email protected]. Please help us spread the word. Again, Black Lives Matter.
