Typical day helping our clients to regain there full range of movement. This client had pain running down the back of her leg.
After some observations and palpating we worked on releasing the hip/glute and piriformis. This was done through manual treatment and some specific stretching.
It’s safe to say the client is progressing and moving better with a specific rehab programne containing strength exercises for the weak areas and stretch routine for those tight areas.

I have put together a few infographics just to help get the message across regarding adaption to training loads and the need for some decent rest days within that model.
As i Coach more often than not i am trying to hold back my clients from doing too much too soon, some clients feel the need to keep working at a higher intensity thinking it will give them greater gains quicker. When in reality specific training at the right intensity/Load along with adequate rest will always pay the best dividend.
The Overload/Super Compensated rest principle is a great model to follow, as you see in graphic 1. This shows a load over a block of training with a super compensated rest period to adapt to the load it has undertaken.
Allowing the body to repair and get ready for the next round of stresses the athlete places upon it.
Within the rest period low inpact sessions such as Pilates / Walking and Sports Massage can all help the healing process.
In the second graphic you can see that without any/or adequate rest the baseline fitness drops as your body fights to recover and heal itself, over time this can lead to a host of injuries as you can see in pic 3.
As a coach I have always harped on about rest and how important it is, your body can only get stronger at REST.
Give your body a treat, rest up and take care of yourself.
One way of looking after your body is to get yourself booked in for a Sports Massage and help that healing process.
