Iโ€™m becoming more and more convinced that focus, attention and awareness are the among the most important factors in improving wellbeing and personal success.

I canโ€™t help wonder what more we can do to help our young people with focus and what systemic changes could be made to support positive change.

Are you Resilient Ready?

Resilience ready means that you have continued to do the work to build a mindset ready to face the unplanned aspects of life... The mindset that can not only handle, but can thrive on uncertainty.

Students are often faced with extreme levels of change and uncertainty and teachers are having to find ways to guide them... responding to a constantly shifting landscape. It can feel like the blind leading the blind for a lot of teachers, trying to stay one step ahead on newly emerging concepts or technology.

When the levels of uncertainty are high in multiple aspects of your life it's easy to feel a sense of overwhelm. Consider moments when your work, your finances, your health and/or your relationships (with family or friends) have all had high levels of uncertainty. It can really take a toll on your physical and mental health.

It's for those moments that you can become resilient ready.

Focus on the way you are thinking about your world. Fred Luthans (et al, 2007) explored ways to build your psychological capital, by becoming your own HERO. Focus on things that build Hope, (Self-)Efficacy, Resilience, and Optimism.

Take care of your physical health - take your MEDS!

Mind | Exercise | Diet | Sleep

* Explore practices that help you calm and focus your mind. Mindfulness and meditation can take many forms. Find something that works for you and do it.
* Move your body to create energy, increase dopamine and feel better in your skin. Move to increase both physical and mental strength, flexibility and endurance. Move now to protect your future self.
* Eat to nurture your body and mind. Eat a wide variety of whole foods. Consume less sugar and processed fats. Notice what makes you feel good and what doesn't.
* Prioritise sleep for brain health, gut health and emotional regulation. Routine is the key. Quality and quantity.

Be ready.
Resilient ready.
Ready for challenge.
Ready for navigating difficult thoughts, emotions and situations.
Ready before you need to draw on these skills.

RELEASE for Emotional Health!

Are you aware of the effects of poor emotional health can have on your life?

* Poor quality of relationships and connection with others
* High levels of stress, anxiety and fear
* Disconnection from a sense of meaning and purpose
* Lack of ability to set and achieve your goals
* Poor resilience and low self agency
* Limited flexibility and critical thinking
* High levels of overreaction and loss of self control
* Low understanding of own energetic needs

I think you will agree that there are some pretty undesirable things on this list. The beauty of your mind is that once you see or know something, it is very hard to โ€˜unknowโ€™ it.

So now you know that these are just some of the ways that you or your young people are potentially being impacted by your level of emotional health, you have a choice.

You can choose to remain as you are - knowing that things could be better - or you can choose to lean in to change.

Neither choice is right or wrong.

One will be an easy choice...
..and the other will transform your life.

I was listening to on this morning and this quote came up in the conversation. It got me thinking about the simplicity of this way of thinking or re-thinking about what we might believe stands in the way of success.

I know that I have let some of the booing from the sidelines - not so much from people, but more from my own mind - stand in the way of scoring success. Sometimes the booing is the stories you tell yourselves or the way you are choosing to see a situation. I've been taking some time to re-think, re-define and revise a lot of the last year or two.
