William Hanna of Hanna-Barbara was an Eagle Scout Before he joined Joseph Barbera to form the animation team behind The Jetsons and Yogi Bear, William Hanna became an Eagle Scout.

A tremendous THANK YOU to everyone that made a donation or purchased popcorn from Jake! This year he was able to contribute a total of $3,670 towards the Scouting program and successfully added $145 to his Trails End Scholarship.

Selling popcorn is an exciting way for Jake to learn how to speak to others, set a plan, and put in the necessary work to accomplish his goals. Being creative and entrepreneurial is a central theme in scouting. With the challenges of selling popcorn, a scout begins to build important lifelong skills.

When Jake and I began discussing what he could spend his reward money on, I mentioned how he could pay it forward and donate to Toys for Tots or the local food back he volunteered at before covid struck. I am ecstatic to say that with excitement Jake said he would donate $25 dollars to the Toys for Tots Foundation and $25 dollars to the Wauconda Food Bank. This warmed my heart so much, that I told him I would be matching his donation.

Kindness truly comes in all shapes and sizes, and it can be incredibly powerful in its various forms. In a world that can feel like it is filled with darkness, you can make a meaningful difference in someone’s day and life by paying it forward with kindness.

When you purchase an American Heroes Donation, a portion goes back to local Scouting and the remaining popcorn equivalent is donated to the first responders and the U.S. Military.
