Newness in the shop!
It’s your gal Ellie here, feeling sorry for myself today after a covid and flu booster yesterday 💪 At the end of May I’m taking some time off to head home to Scotland for a month. But before I do, I’ll be listing some new bits online! This will include the new Muir Kilt and Sailor Blouses that some of you may have spotted at recent markets! Keep your eyes peeled
Market day bby! At until 3pm today ☺️
So excited to be heading back to this Saturday! I’m working on some last minute long kilts this week as well as lots of old favourites 💗
It’s all in the details
For me a beach day is not only reserved for sunny days. There’s nothing quite like the ocean on a moody winter day. Featuring my Seaglass Crescent Bag and my always cute jacket from Apres Ski
It’s Tam time! Melbourne is chilling down which means it’s time to get cosy. I love autumn and winter fashion, it must be in my Scottish and Irish genes!
I’ve been a wee bit quiet on here this week! There’s good reason and it involves a lot of boxes, dust and emotions. Since August my partner and I have been dealing with some major issues in our Melbourne rental. Nothing has been fixed so we have been living with damp, mould and no oven since then. Finally after months of pulling my hair out over it we were given a notice of a huge rent increase (!!!!) and decided we’d had enough. This week we’ve moved, it’s been extremely difficult physically, mentally and for me horribly emotional. This place had been my first home and studio in Melbourne, for over five years. Here we set up our lives together, survived covid, nightmare noisey neighbours (a few times 😬) and I have been processing the loss of my mum here. It’s been a place of sanctuary and of huge distress. I needed to move, not just because of how badly it was affecting my physical and mental health. But also because I fear change so badly it keeps me frozen and I needed to let go of it to grow. I’m very sad about it but I hope once I’ve handed the keys in I will feel a sense of relief. And thankfully my new place has a working oven so I can finally make some Yorkshire puddings!!
Slide 1- the sweetest possum which is the thing I will miss most
2- my new studio
3- testing out market displays in my old studio
4- last years Xmas decorations, I triumph in my grief journey
5- a small patch of the disgusting damp and mould we’ve been living with for at least 9 months
Have you seen we are retiring a bunch of styles this month? This includes the beloved collection, all the fabric is used up so what I have in the shop is your last chance to have one of these special pieces. As a small business I usually only make small runs of things, sometimes they are part of my brand for years and other times I can only find the smallest amount of fabric which means they get snapped up so quickly! I invested in quite a lot of meterage for this collection so it feels quite surreal to see it all gone!
Wowee what an amazing first day of ! I can’t believe I already sold out of a couple of styles 🥹 This is my first time back in the Royal Exhibition Building since covid and it was so so lovely to be back. I’m replenishing the stock for tomorrow and can’t wait to see you again from 10am! 💕
It’s time to get Kilted! I’ve been working away on so many kilts from sizes XS-4XL both in our Seaglass and Newhaven colourways. Catch them if you can at market 6-7th April
Midi kilts coming soon! You know I love my minis but there is just something so sophisticated and cool about a midi skirt. These kilts are a different take on your classic wool kilt. Created in a gorgeous lavender linen/tencel mix, they have the most beautiful relaxed drape and are a perfect everyday piece 💜
You may have noticed I’ve been rather quiet on here the last few weeks! February was a complicated month for me, I have my late mums birthday on the 4th, and then two very difficult anniversaries on the 14th and 17th. Thankfully I had my wonderful Dad come and visit and a beautiful day of joy at A Plus Market. Then BAM I got food poisoning that lasted over a week 😩 I desperately tried to recover and thank fully made it to our planned NZ trip which was incredible (minus the sandflies). Dad left yesterday, so I wallowed all day but with lots of exciting things happening in the SQUINT calendar I’m feeling excited and energised to jump back in 💗 if you got this far thank you and if you’d like to keep updated save Squint to your favourites on here so I don’t get lost in your feed 💗
This Sunday I’ll be bringing SQUINT to the wonderful ! I’ve just finished off a bunch of kilts in XL-4XL. They are 100% Italian wool with a handmade adjustable strap. Each size can be tightened or loosened to be extra comfy! I can’t wait for you to see this red and ice blue colour combo in real life 👌
