My rating: 4.4/5
Avni Joshi has dreamt of running her own book store cm cafe since childhood. That dream becomes a reality in the form of Among the Pages Book Cafe which is a legacy passed on to her by her late father. The revamped bookstore and cafe is doing really well, helping Avni and her family (mother, sister-in-law and niece) get over the grief of losing her father and elder brother. Just when things seem settled after years of emotional and financial struggle, someone shatters it by threatening to shut down the cafe. Will Avni be able to save her lifelong dream?

What I liked about the book:
-> The way the author has described and written about Among the Pages Book Cafe makes you wish it was a reality.
->The incorporation of Pune’s life, people and its places into the story is another charming factor
-> Nidhi (Avni’s niece) and her four pet dogs are cuteness overload and you feel like cuddling them whenever they come up in the book.
->The conversations and banter between Avni and Vihaan are funny and just the right dose of romance.

What I did not like about the book:
-> If you’re looking for some drama and twists and turns, this isn’t it. The story is simple, sweet and fairly straightforward, which also makes it kind of predictable

Quotable quotes:
-> Never entertain the thought of giving up. If one plan doesn’t work, make another and another
->Nothing is big enough to store books. Not even the entire world.
->People who are after money are always after money. That’s the only thing they care about, not the emotions. You would give them everything you have, yet they wouldn’t care. They feel entitled and that’s not good for anyone.

3 easy steps to name the characters from your novel...

1️⃣ Search names online. Baby-name websites are quite helpful.

 Shortlist names based on-

✔️Type of the character-

The protagonist's name can be bright and jolly while the Villain's name can be slightly wicked. For example Ariel (Protagonist) and Ursula(Villain) from The Little Mermaid. Harry Potter (Protagonist) and Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort(Villain). The sound of the name gives a personality to the character.

✔️ Theme of the book-

Contemporary fiction names are easy to choose as it's happening in modern times. But you might want to research a bit to name characters for fantasy series or historical fiction.

Take inspiration from books/movies from similar genres to see what kind of names go well with your book's genre.

Or there are some genre-specific name-generator websites online that you can try.

✔️ Geographical location/Origin-

The names of the characters should match their origin or geographical location. For example, Indian-origin names are different than American Names.

Choose the name that goes well with the character and their existence.

2️⃣ Try to keep character names simple.

Readers find it annoying when names are hard to pronounce or read.

You can come up with creative names but they should be easy for readers.

3️⃣ Character names should be distinct

It's super confusing when two character names sound or look similar while reading. For example Wilson and Winston.

Readers prefer to read faster and brush past names because now they are aware of these names.

But, if two names are similar, it'll force readers to read carefully, which is unnecessary.

Your 'Detailed' outline could be a problem...

I don't believe in following a detailed outline because I come up with an alternative, better, plot when I start writing. Besides, I don't think anyone should create an outline that exceeds 2 pages. Unless you are writing a Fantasy series or historical fiction, you don't need to have a rigid outline.

You can spend more time writing the book than perfecting the outline.

Many authors believe that the outline can save the editing rounds. Which could be true but not always. What if you write the whole book by following the outline and then you come up with something new?

Instead, just write a simple flow using Three Act Structure. (I highly recommend reading Save The Cat Writes A Novel) Only make yourself familiar with the idea and flow of the books. You don't have to figure out all the scenes and chapters beforehand.

Discovery Writing is a good method to follow. Here, you write as you explore the story in your creative mind. You also try to understand your characters as you write.

But...Every author has a different way of outlining. I am only sharing what works for me. Give it a try, it might work for you too.

Comment below your outlining method that might help me and fellow authors :)

Keep writing!

Saving the final manuscript and logging off💃
Final manuscript checklist👇
1. First round of reading and marking inconsistencies.
2. Fixing inconsistencies.
3. First round of proofreading. (Use text to speech feature of Word as human eyes might read past a wrong spelling without realising it.)
4. Second round of proofreading where you just read your manuscript as a reader and make small edits if any.

After that, it's all set to be published 💃

This book made me dream about trekking and traveling and I am not really a travel person.

"Meet Me at the Summit" by is a story of a 19-year-old Marly who is grieving over her parent's death when her family and friends coerce her into driving a converted VW bus across the country. While Marly would have loved to go on a trekking trip with her father, now she would rather go home and get on with her life.

Defeated by her family and her friend's 'Organized' persuasion, Marly decides to drive the VW bus from Washington to New Hampshire. On her trip, she discovers some amazing places, trekking locations, and new friends while dealing with her grief.

It's a beautiful story of finding passion, meeting new people, falling in love, and coming to terms with the new life.

I think I spent hours watching converted bus interior tour videos and loved Marly's bus. Absolutely loved the book.

“This creation of yours that's going to be the envy of every king in Bharat—we'll call it the Palace of Illusions.”

Mahabharata from Draupadi's pov 🔥

Born from fire with a fate to bring about the greatest war of Bharat, Draupadi's journey was full of headship. Everybody knows about the great war of Mahabharata. But viewing it from a different perspective sends chills down your spine. What I loved more about this book is, that not a single character was made to appear flawless. And you get to read the possible reality of what must have happened after the Mahabharata war. I liked the idea of Draupadi's love for Karna, but I think it was overdone. Good to read about it though! Highly recommended for Mahabharata fans.
