A week ago, I had the opportunity to perform at Roger Brown’s in Portsmouth, VA. These pictures don’t show the reality of that night. What really happened is that I have been having vocal issues lately and could barely sing Friday night. I have an amazing band and background singers who are phenomenal lead singers and songwriters in their own right. They carried the weight of the night for me and I am beyond thankful for them! So what have I been doing to correct my situation? I had minor surgery Monday and am recovering. I had to take charge of the situation and do something to make sure that I can continue to be “Neika Simone!” I can’t wait to get back on stage with my voice being 100%! There’s so much going on in 2024. Ive got A LOT to tell you! Stay tuned….more info is coming soon!!

What a great time I had at the VMFA last night! I saw people I knew and made some new friends! One of people I knew is a former student I taught in middle school who’s now in college! I was so excited to see him and to know that I made a lasting impression in his life. In all honesty, I was a bit nervous last night. Santa didn’t give me a lump of coal, but I had the displeasure of having Covid during the holidays.🤦🏽‍♀️ The worst part about it is that I’ve been hoarse for weeks! Last night, my voice pulled through and with my wonderful band, we made music come to life! It was beautiful seeing people dance to and enjoy music that I wrote. My heart is full! Thank you VMFA!!💕💕
