See The Good in Everything.

Friend, where are you seeing His goodness in this season of your life?

EP47 inspired this design: See The Good in Everything of the podcast.

The abridged version is: I have this canvas flag in my house and I see these words multiple times a day.

It's led me here to where I've been attempting to ask this question daily, “Help me see the good in today, Lord."

A personal challenge and creative project for this year is to take one Polaroid a day. That's 366 photos for this year (since it's a leap year 😉). As I'm in the third month of this challenge, it has become a daily practice for me – to see the good – to try and pause, not rushing past ordinary moments. I'll admit sometimes I forget, or the day flashes by and I remember just before midnight. Still, in my forgetfulness, God is reminding me in the slow, fast, or relaxed days He is there and He is good.

So, friend, I pray this is a reminder and encouragement to see the good in everything, wherever you are and whatever your day brings.

Here’s to celebrating one year at gentle and lowly co. 🥳

Sometimes it’s hard to put into words how grateful I truly am for gentle and lowly co. and for you (yes YOU, reading this!) being the early adopters of my small business.

It still feels surreal to me because a year ago I was on a mission trip in Kentucky to help bring relief to the community of Dawson Springs after a devastating tornado. From that trip and seeing how powerfully God worked in our team, the people we served and myself — I knew it was time to step out in faith and begin something I had no idea how to do. I knew bits and pieces, but starting a business is unlike any other adventure I’ve had with the Lord yet.

This past inaugural year of g+l co. has been an adventure of trust, patience, and courage.

I remember sitting on a couch (see second photo) working on designs in the common area of the church who hosted us and thinking,
“Am I really going to do this…start a business?”

I’ve been asking for years what can I do with my gifts to make you, Jesus, known.

Feeling this desire to do more, yet not knowing what or how…
how can I share the gospel with what you’ve entrusted to me?

In that moment I knew the Lord was calling me to trust Him.

It has been risky, challenging, yet rewarding in ways I didn’t know I needed.

What a joy it has been to meet others right in my community or a state over in Michigan.

God has a way of connecting people,
His people to one another
exactly when we need it.

It’s not by accident.
He is working even in the shadows.

Friend, you may be asking yourself that same question I was only a year ago.

What is God telling you “it’s time” to step into

This design in our Fall Collection might be one of my favorites for the reminder it serves.

Learning to trust God is a continual process, again and again I’ve found myself being encouraged as the Lord reminds me of His faithfulness – and as seasons come and go with changes in life, there’s been a continual thread of who God has been calling me to be.

That thread is because and through the Gospel.

It is the very thing that draws me back to Him. In seasons where I am hesitant of God’s direction or leading, He reminds me of His sacrifice and His perfect will — reassuring me His plan is always better than my own.

This verse and design paired together remind me as we face life’s challenges, and experience refinement we are becoming more and more like our Savior.

It encourages me to take courage and ask, “Who does He want me to become in/through this season?”

“Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction.”‭‭

I took this photo weeks ago early on in August because it was a moment I didn’t want to forget. Now, I know it’s not the nicest or cleanest photo, and that’s okay.

I started gentle and lowly co. to encourage others with resources and tools to help carry the gentle love of Jesus, wherever you go. In two more months I’ll have reached one year since beginning gentle and lowly co. While I’m anticipating to celebrate a future accomplishment, I still find myself in awe at what God has done in our first two collections in the past 10 months.

It’s honestly a surreal thing when I pause and take a moment to reflect. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to steward this business and to have met so many wonderful people over the summer.

Back to this photo like I said earlier, it doesn’t appear to be much happening — but to me it was (and is) a reminder of God’s faithfulness in my life and I count it an incredible privilege to share these designs and bring them into other people’s lives.

If you’ve been looking for a t-shirt that is comfortable, joyful and shares the gospel with others? Look no further!

This was one of my favorite designs creating for the summer collection. As a photographer, I have a love for all the various types of mediums and formats you can create in. While I learned photography using a digital format, film will always have a soft spot.

I still love the traditional types of roll film, but instant photography grounds me to be present in the moment in a different way than a phone or even a digital camera does at times.

For me as a photographer, whatever I have the privilege to capture in front of my lens is a reflection of Him.

God’s creation is everywhere.
Anything I capture,
He’s created
as He is the original Creator.

The Polaroids of memories shared with friends, family or nature — are a gift from Him that remind me of His glory and the truth that you and I are “made in His image” (Genesis 1:27)

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, “Celebrate Often!”

It’s pausing and taking time to reflect on the small moments that too quickly pass us by. Something we once thought impossible or only a mere dream of our future reality and then suddenly, you realize you’re actually doing what you sought out to do or accomplish.

There are a variety of experiences and goals that resonate with the feeling of accomplishment and gratitude.

My most recent experience was this past weekend where I attended and participated in two markets as a vendor. I’ve always loved markets, from the original garage sale, thrifting, farmers markets, and my personal favorite artisan markets. Artisan markets are my personal favorite for the unique creativity they bring. Each maker brings their products and creative vision to impact people’s lives. You may have thought, “It’s only a card..it’s not going to change anyone’s life.” But friend, that’s where creatives or entrepreneurs truthfully think differently. We believe creativity does have the ability to bring change into people’s lives.

It may be a small spark of:
hope
joy
peace
patience
kindness
and so much more.

For me as a creative, maker, entrepreneur, artist, or whatever title I find myself in; I believe this is one small way I can use my creativity to share the gospel in a way that is full of joy and hope…”

• I realize it's been a while since we last caught up

but even if I do have an idea or feeling of why a friend has crossed my mind I am learning to not question my own thoughts but to ask God why did they come to my mind and ask,

"Is there anything you would encourage me to do, to bless this friend today?"

Often it's a small text
a handwritten note
a message on Instagram
making future lunch plans
a random amazon delivery
or a surprise work visit with your friend's favorite drink in hand

Sharing the light Jesus brings doesn't have to be difficult or even weird.
Often times it's simple, much simpler than we realize.

We might just be that friend who can bring the warmth and hope of Jesus near to a friend in need.

As you go throughout your day and someone comes to mind, pause and ask God what He's up to.
He might just surprise you too ♥

Among the fun summer adventures — this summer has looked different than usual. It has surprised me with a slower pace than I anticipated, and I am continuing to find myself oddly grateful for that.

You might be like me always finding yourself with a jam packed schedule or never ending to-do list. Sometimes when you’re so used to a full season there can be a tendency to think something is missing.

But here’s what I’m learning:
slowing down and having space in my time is a beautiful gift from God.

If you’ve been in a season where you’ve felt like you’re continuously going from one thing to another, you’re not alone.

Here’s a reminder with all the fun and new activities summer brings, it’s okay to slow down.

I’m eagerly anticipating all the “fun” things that are remaining within the summer and simply cannot wait. From time with family and friends, the summer collection launch, more golf cart rides around the lake, podcast conversations, my first book launch and so more.

As I am anticipating these things, I’m remembering as good as they are: time spent sitting with Jesus is always the best use of my time.

So I’ll continue to make space for Him and others as this summer of slowing unfolds.
