I had a feeling this one was going to have an unusual title, and as soon as I found ‘Fimbulvinter’, I knew that was the one! It means ‘Great Winter’ in Norse mythology, and since some parts of this were inspired by Scandinavian art, and I’m Swedish, I thought it was fitting. ♥️

I used real butterflies in parts of her wings, and painted on them with gouache..:::🦋💖

There’s a really trippy story that goes along with this, and that’s where it gets its title: ‘The Thing That Becomes Things’... but I’ll have to explain that another day: )

‘Starseeds’ A geometric sun goddess, in colored pencil & pen. 8 1/2” x 6”

For this, I painted it first, and then drew over the paint, so I think it has a different feel to it, because usually I’ll draw things out first, and then paint in the details. I’d love to make larger paintings using this technique💛

Would love to finish her soon! Never enough time... I started using gouache in a different way here, so it should be interesting to see where it goes.

This is a little piece of something I made long ago. Two hearts becoming one. Hopefully I’ll finish the rest of this piece eventually, and share it someday: )

This watercolor was painted right before I went to college. I was staying in a log cabin in the mountains, and all these little things were found inside, and outside the cabin, so I could practice drawing realism. I also painted the rose ring I used to wear every day. It was going to be a children’s story, about a fairy who wakes up in the middle of the night, to find a gnome stealing ginger out of her house. She was going to teach him that he only had to ask, because she made the best ginger tea, and ginger soup in the whole forest. I had so much fun making this♥️

This girl in the center modeled for my Illustration class in college, and our assignment was to make the background anything we wanted, so I was really into drawing these weird dolls, mostly because I’d sew them in those days. I’d actually love to finish painting the rest sometime.

I painted this acrylic in Maui, but wasn’t able to completely finish it. I’d love to paint more like this. It was going to be a sleepover happening on another planet..::🪐::..
