The turquoise acara is one of the most beautiful cichlids in South America. Its bluish-green scales seem to be surrounded by a luminous halo. And near the head there are turquoise stripes and spots. The dorsal and a**l fins are strongly elongated. On them (as well as on the tail), a yellow or white edging is clearly distinguished. Males often have a fatty build-up on their heads.
To keep this beauty, you will need a spacious aquarium of 300 liters or more, and it is better if it is a species. Unfortunately, turquoise akara is an extremely territorial fish and often does not get along even with neighbors of similar size. For this it is often called the "green terror".
The size of an adult is 25-30 cm.
