I'm Ken Baughman. Support me for the Board of Education, District 3 position. Paid for by Friends of Ken Baughman, Lynne Baughman, Treasurer

I've devoted my life to teaching in classrooms across Anne Arundel County, fighting for the needs of our children, and lobbying for the needs of out teachers.

We started and stopped at the four corners. Next we took a train ride to Pikes Peak. We had beautiful views and it was cold as you can see by the snow on the ground. Then went to Dodge City and seen a shoot out then had a dinner show.

I want to thank everyone for their support in my bid for the Board of Education. I managed to get 18,542 votes. My opponent got 20,553. Even though we're short, we gave them a race.

Important update from Anne Arundel County Public Schools!

From AACPS

Hello families, this is Anne Arundel County Public Schools emailing to let you know that in light of the county’s high COVID-19 seven-day average case incidence rate, Anne Arundel County Public Schools will temporarily cease small group, in-person instruction at the Center of Applied Technology – North and the county’s three developmental centers after instruction on Friday, November 6. Those students will return to virtual learning beginning Monday, November 9.

Outdoor athletics practices and extracurricular activities will be allowed to continue, but indoor practices and activities will also cease after sessions on November 6. The school system is also continuing to prepare for the start of competitive athletics in December, but will continue to monitor health and safety metrics and consult with the county Health Officer as that process continues.

Thanks, and have a good evening.

05/11/2020

The BOE voted to keep students virtual through the end of January. The focus now will be on bringing back kids who are English as a Second Language, special needs, struggling learners and those attending technology centers.

05/11/2020

The current board voted to remain in virtual learning status until Second Semester based on current Covid-19 metrics in Anne Arundel County.

Superintendent Arlotto also mentioned that current in-person instruction will be halted based on these same metrics.

Thank you to all of you who are reaching out to let us know that your mail-in and provisional ballots have not been counted yet. In this unprecedented time, many of us used these types of ballots in this year's election.

As mail-in ballots and provisional ballots are still being counted, it is important to remember that this election will take a while to be confirmed by the state and county boards of elections.

Thank you for your continued engagement and interest in the AACPS District 3 Board of Education race!

Board Hearing 29/10/2020

Thank you to student BoE member Drake Smith () for proposing that BoE members need to listen to parent concerns. Last night's hearing was moving and inspirational.

As a board member I will make it a practice to listen before making decisions that impact parents and their children, teachers, and staff.

I promise to make decisions based on facts, parent and student input, and the most equitable options for all involved.
