I am wishing you all a Happy New Year. I look forward to welcoming more of you this year, on your journeys, to work on your goals, one step at a time 🥂
Yesterday was a good day 🥰 🥂🍾
What a gorgeous sunset to walk out to today on my penultimate training day! Tomorrow, I qualify as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist. 🏅
When I signed up to the course at the beginning of the year, I had NO idea, HOW I was going to make it work, I just had every intention of making it work! For the last 10 months, I’ve been working full time, studying, practicing therapy, building my media platforms, juggling childcare with a very small support network, caring for my two children as a single Mum (one of which has additional needs)as well as building a new friendship circle and social life. I have put blood, sweat and tears in to getting to this point month in and month out.
I’m so glad I didn’t give up! I took it all one step at a time, I didn’t always know how I’d get there, I just knew I was going to make it happen, much like the work I have been doing with my case study volunteers. Having already helped multiple people to reduce their stress, anxiety, depression, phobia’s as well as stopping smoking this has very much been the most valued reward of my efforts.
Tomorrow, I’ll receive a certificate which will take pride of place on the wall but my biggest reward is knowing there are people out there already living a better life than before as a result of putting in their own huge efforts when working with me. Thank you to those of you who helped me to help you and I can’t wait to help many more!
🥂🍾
🎄🎅🏼’Tis the season to be Jolly.. 🎶 So, what steps can we take to prevent overwhelm?
Here are a few tips to help see you through and stay jolly during the festive season:
🎄Be realistic, don't expect that nothing will go wrong, there’s a chance that something will and it is ok, don't sweat the small stuff.
🎄 If you don't want relatives over, be explicit and up front in explaining that you love them but you want to have some time to yourselves this year.
🎄Plan ahead, get other people to muck in, be clear in giving out roles, ask someone to organise games with children, bring drinks, bring desserts and share the load so it's not all on one set of shoulders, communication is important.
🎄 Break up the day with a walk or a kick about in the park.
🎄 Allow children to get involved with tasks like setting the table or making name cards so they feel like they’re a part of making the day special.
🎄 Meal time activities - add a pot in the middle of the table containing conversation starters such as; the best bit of the year was..., what I'm looking forward to is..., my most embarrassing moment was.. etc.
🎄 Family time can be lovely, each person from the family should choose what they'd like to do so everyone gets a say, screen free time is important too.
🎄 Have a calm box of activities for small children when it becomes overwhelming like colouring, lego, a book to read.
🎄 Make the children feel involved with the family. Reassure them that you really want them to be a part making the day special. Ask them what they would like their role to be, so they’re a part of a solution rather than sitting back and watching the adults do everything.
🎄Sibling Rivalry: notice them getting on rather than noticing their arguments. Tell them you recognise their good behaviour so they get that feel good feeling. When they don't get on tell them it’s ok to feel annoyed but they can handle it differently.
🎄 Coping with the blues: It’s ok to be sad at christmas and honour the people that are not going to be sat at the table with you, introduce a bauble or a candle or have an empty chair for those you have lost, arrange a video call for anyone that can't be there or volunteer to do something in the community
🎄 Separated Families: Plan a timetable, show your children what is happening, what parent they will be with and when so they are fully aware of the plans.
🎄Allow children to talk about the other parent and what activities they have participated in together.
If they’re of a good age, talk to them and ask them what they would like to do in your new separated situation. Allow them to tell their story, listen to them and let them be a part of the solution. If they say it, we hear it, acknowledge it and move on from it, help them think through what will give them a positive experience, let them know they are loved in both places and you both want them to have a nice day.
🎄Jealousy: full family vs broken family - try not to over compensate or dismiss the situation. All research shows the most important thing to children through these difficult times is that children want to be heard, let them know you recognise it may be tough for them and that it's ok for them to feel those emotions then help them come up with realistic ways to help them to feel better about it.
🎄When it all gets too much, take some time out. Step outside, slowly breath in through your nose and exhale out of your mouth until you feel re-centred.
🎄 You are good enough, everyone is good enough and good enough IS good enough! Christmas is a real life experience with the good the bad and the ugly. It’s not an instagram reel.
🎄 Be kind to yourself and to others
🎄 Gift to your means and not in excess. The gift is in giving, children may compare their family life to others but it’s the presence and the experiences that makes Christmas special. Help them to value and enjoy those things.
🎄 If you want guests to leave early, set the expectation before the day, tell them beforehand that you'd like everyone to leave by a certain time.

Positive thoughts are a key contributor to our mental wellness but it can also be the hardest for the majority of people.
You can start to focus your mind by keeping a track of the positive things from your day either by writing them down or making a mental note of them.
Writing down the positive events from your day not only helps you to recognise that there are good things in your life, but it also trains your brain to look for them. The more you look for the good things in life, the more positive your thoughts become and the more you operate from your prefrontal cortex.
The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain we use for our logical thinking, it’s the part we use when we are operating at our best.
Hypnotherapy has the great advantage of helping us to operate from this part of the brain instead of the emotional primitive part that operates our fight / flight / freeze area.
If you’d like to discuss how hypnotherapy can help you, please get in touch.

Sometimes we have to give ourselves credit for doing the incredible work we do on ourselves to change our lives around. I’m travelling by train to Manchester today ready to present on mental health awareness and wellbeing. I’ve never travelled in to Manchester by train before, I’ve only ever been to the city centre once in my life and here I am doing it alone, with not a single hint of sweat or heart rate increase in sight. I don’t know where I’m going when I get there and pre-therapy, I’d have been a wreck right now. I’d have been sweating and frantically checking everything on my phone. Today I can have clarity in knowing that when I get there, I will find my way. I’ve given myself time, I’ve prepared myself with the addresses and it’s all going to be okay. For many people, no matter how much they travel this can still be a real ‘polar bear’ moment. I’m so glad I discovered hypnotherapy because the help it’s provided for me personally has been life changing. If you’re looking to make improvements to your life in managing stress, anxiety and low mood better, please get in touch. I have space to take on new clients to use as case studies for my qualifications, if you book in for a free consultation within the next 4 weeks, you will receive 8-12 sessions of hypnotherapy free of charge.
It’s been my week off both work and Hypnotherapy Learnings over the last week before the children go back to school.
Part of our break was visiting Glastonbury where we went to to the Tor (pictured), then the town centre where we viewed some excellent street art, ate food in an olde world pub, visited the quirky shops, and also visited Chalice Gardens where both my little boys and I did a meditation! 🥰
It’s been nice to have a break, now I’m looking forward to getting back to work, next week! I really notice the effect of having not seen any clients for a week as the Hypnotherapy sessions I hold for my clients also benefit my own mindset. Not only am I learning from experience but repeating the positive language patterns everyday, enables my own mind to absorb that same positivity, after all the brain doesn’t recognise the difference between what’s real and what’s imagination.
I’ve a busy couple of weeks with a few smoking cessations booked in along with my regulars who I look forward to seeing too 😊 Have a fabulous week.

Being out in nature is incredibly good for my soul! After a weekend of it, I’m feeling super refreshed and ready for my clients this week! I have a number who are nearing the end of their support with me, some in the middle and improving every week and I have my first client choosing to extend her life span by seeing me for smoking cessation this week. 🙌🏼
I do have some space for anyone that needs support and would like to try Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for the following:
🟢 Stress
🟢 Anxiety
🟢 Depression
🟢 PTSD
🟢 Phobias
🟢 Smoking Cessation
I’m also trained to work with children now.
Fully insured as a Student with an enhanced DBS certificate.
As I’m still a student, anyone coming to me for support in the next 4 weeks will be privy to free support with the only fee being your agreement for me to use details from our sessions within my portfolio. I will be charging a half fee to new clients from October when I have completed a certain element of my training.
All therapy sessions are provided remotely via MS Teams or Zoom so it doesn’t matter where in the world you are. If you need some support, I will do my best to help you.
DM me to discuss how I can help.
Day 2 of Module 6 ☺️
Yesterday, I learned how to help with smoking cessation. Learning all of the chemicals within ci******es AND in vapes was very eye opening 🙈
I have volunteers to receive this from me in the next few weeks. I’m looking forward to helping them take the steps to improve their health and life expectancy.
I will be sending out my first newsletter to all my volunteer clients shortly. If you would like to be on my list to receive a copy. Please DM me your email address. 🙏🏻
⏩️ .. Swipe to see the causes.. This evening I began to read a book that is a reading recommendation as part of the Solution Focused Hypnotherapy course by CPHT. Lost Connections by .hari is an international best seller that uncovers the real causes of depression. I’m only a few chapters in but it’s grasped my attention enough for me to look into the causes before I reach the end. I’m interested to see that many of the the main causes of Depression actually comes down to Loneliness more so than the chemical imbalance in our brains but it makes a lot of sense, in line with my own understanding of our make up, our basic human instincts. Back in our caveman era, we surrounded ourselves with our tribe, this is a natural human instinct, it’s what drives us to connect with friends and family and to seek out a partner. When we lose our connections through life, it’s like losing a bolt out of our engine, over time, the more bolts we lose and don’t tend to, the less functionality we have in our engine meaning it doesn’t run so well without maintenance a.k.a some form of care or therapy. For now, this is some food for thought that I wanted to share but if depression and medication is something that’s plagued your life, I implore your to have a read. I look forward to sharing more thoughts on this as I read further through. Have a great weekend. Kelly x
This weekend on the solution focused hypnotherapy course with CPHT, we learned about Phobia therapy!
I opted to be the demo for the class as I had a phobia of wasps. I’ve embarrassed myself and almost caused physical harm to people whilst from running away from, more times than I care to remember.
Having had the therapy over the weekend, the only way I was going to be sure it had worked is when I was faced with the situation again.
Fast forward to today, I was speaking to a lady in my child’s school playground, whilst I was talking to her, a wasp flew up and was pretty much on her forehead. My usual response would be instant panic, my heart rate would go up, I’d have a surge of adrenalin, sweaty palms and I’d either move out of the way until it was gone or if within 1 metre of me, I’d scream and run.
That didn’t happen today!! 🎉 Today, I acknowledged that it was there but I had zero physical reaction to it 🙌🏼 now I’m the one that’s buzzing!
If you’d like to work on eradicating your phobia, message me and ask me how. I’m looking for volunteers for case studies right now.
🧠 💚 FREE PHOBIA THERAPY… *see below*
It’s been another busy weekend of training for me! This month we have learned about Phobias and how we can work on eradicating them.
I was used for the demonstration with my phobia of a specific flying insect. I’ve had too many embarrassing moments as a result of the phobia itself, the worst one was a couple of years ago when I knocked a poor woman flying at Pepa Pig world in a bid to get away from said insect, not my finest moment! I’m now looking forward to no more unsolicited dancing moments in public!
If you’d like to work on getting rid of a specific phobia for free, with me (student hypnotherapist), I’m looking for NEW volunteers to receive 3 x 1 hour sessions over 3 weeks, the number of sessions could be more, depending on the complexity.
All volunteers receiving free therapy must commit to attending the sessions and be willing to be the subject of an anonymised case study. Message me today to discuss if this could work for you.
How do you recognise when you’re becoming TOO stressed?
What do you do to manage it?
Before hypnotherapy I was in a constant cycle of overwhelm because I was getting stressed about the small things and I couldn’t understand why. The more I questioned my feelings, the worse I would feel, it would lead to overthinking and eventually lead to bouts of depression.
Since receiving hypnotherapy myself and being a student hypnotherapist, I not only have the ability to recognise when my stress bucket 🪣 is becoming too full, I also know the methods I need to follow to fix it.
Stress is an emotion that’s part of our human experience. It’s our brains natural reaction to anything that makes us feel negative but simply knowing this, isn’t enough to stop your stress bucket from overflowing. The “Keep calm and carry on” approach only works for stress levels that are already being managed.
If you’re someone that overthinks like I did, have a go at switching the thought processes around, self reflect based on the reality of the situation, before you spiral into the cycle of overthinking.
It can be hard for us to master this but this is especially true if you are someone that holds themself with pride in showing little emotion. Always remember this:
“Even the tallest trees sometimes have to face their reflection after a down pour” - Kelly at Golden Brain Therapy
It's Friday!! For me, this means that it is time to relax and enjoy the weekend.
It's been another great week for me as a Hypnotherapist (student). Over the past 4 - 5 weeks, I have been working with a number of volunteers that have been experiencing stress, low mood and anxiety who actively want to take the steps to being an improved version of themselves.
Each week, every single client has made progress towards their goal of being who they want to be and feeling how they want to feel, it's an absolute pleasure to witness! I'm very proud of each and every person.
Have a fabulous weekend 💛 x
Introducing my new business name and branding!
'Golden Brain Therapy'
After spending months trying to decide on a business name, the answer dropped in to my mind yesterday, on Father's Day of all days. My Dad passed away in 2017 so Father's Day can at times be tough but yesterday was bitter sweet. As I sat in my classroom discussing business development, my brain took me to a memory of my Dad's nickname: 'Golden Balls'.
My Dad was given this nickname many years ago (before Beckham and before the TV show) during his career as a Mechanical Engineer, he was one of the best in his field and acquired this nickname as a result.
The memory created an immediate epiphany; not only is it a perfect metaphor for my work in helping others to become the best versions of themselves, it also gave me the opportunity and comfort to create that memory of my Dad who was not only the best in his field at work but also the walking definition of someone with a Golden Brain.
