Fun fact - I had a load of Basement Jaxx lyrics in the chapter Angie alludes to here - in my naivety I'd no idea you weren't allowed to include song lyrics without paying up for the honour!! Thank to my editor Shirley-Anne Mc Millan for pointing this out to me and saving me a BIG bill 😂

At one point in the book, Lottie tries to work out why she's been separated from some of her friends - in that they go to a totally different school. I myself couldn't get my head round why that was a thing when I was growing up, it made ZERO sense.

Oh - and the actual real life Belfast Ravens opened their season with the seconds playing their first ever competitive game and holding their own, before the firsts won their opener 5-4 in dramatic circumstances. SUCH an incredible vibe around the team at the moment 👏

To this day, one of my favourite things to do is watch football (or sometimes rugby) with my dad - it’s our own little special thing that we do. That’s probably why Lottie’s relationship with *her* dad and how they bond through sport is right at the heart of this story. 👨‍👧

If I’m honest, I guess the dad is probably based on me - or at least the type of dad I reckon I’ll be when the real Lottie is older. When you read the novel, you’ll understand why that’s not something I should necessarily be proud of - he’s a bit pushy, annoying and silly…..🙈
