Residential Advisor Assistant Position: Part-Time

In search of hard working, self-motivated, outgoing individuals to assist Residential Advisor in international high school dorm setting.

Job Requirements:
High school diploma, preferred some experience or college level classes related to secondary education, knowledge of international student life and diversity would be a plus. Must be flexible and patient, be able to help students prepare for adulthood. Assistant needs to have an understanding of what it means to be a role model, leader, and be extremely responsible. Must be able to work later afternoons, some weekends, and some evenings. Have own car for transportation. Proficiency in spoken English.

Job Description:
Staff will supervise students after school ensuring they have done chores and required tasks for the day, help students improve English through conversation, make sure all students are accounted for or present, check for cleanliness of dorms, encouraging students to follow dorm rules. Mostly after school hours are times when staff needs to really work to engage students and be proactive in motivating them to excel. In evenings assistant will make sure the students have followed through with requests from guardians. They will also need to do dorm checks and refill student supplies working with the Residential advisor to make sure student’s needs are met.

Weekend hours would be a continuation of helping students clean, do homework, and be active within the community. Weekends are also a time for fun, so staff will be participating in game and movie nights as well. Lastly, staff will often take students on outings like ice skating, going to the YMCA, soccer, volunteering, and possible all weekend trips out of town. Trips can include, but are not limited to, Nebraska City, Omaha, Kansas City, Denver, and college campus towns.
