So we are back on the trail to the End and then back to The Beginning. The Descent, full of darkness and Capital Letters, awaits, so long no more.
After one finds oneself among Things Never Finished, we are ready to flip the page, skewer the key and tempo and advance deeper into the horrifying image of Leonhard's Mother. Initially an ominous character, at first disorienting listener with her attitude and modus vivendi, The Mother gradually becomes evil in the flesh, breaking every single rein and tether on sight. Just because she can, of course. Her inability to focus on things evolves into literal obsession with no possible compulsion allowed to untie this knot of insanity. Her revulsion to every being becomes abominable, and the very essence of it is her gaze: hectic, chaotic, piercing and outworldly dreadful movement of pupils (that is called Nystagmus). No need to ensure anyone, that this evolution was doomed to tragic end, the question was will it be her own tragedy or it will spread like a plague over all house and even land? Well, the story tells that the second option was inevitable. No surprise though.
We found this character development outstandingly decribed, a perfect Destruction Of Man, by her own hands (or mind, speaking accurately), and even comparing her story to those of other characters, one cannot help accepting it the epitome of Destruction pattern.
In poetry, we find pretty much amusing and relevant to portray peculiar features of Mother's attitude with comparison tropes that reminisce insects and all related to them. First, the very movement order and behavior patterns of insects are considered as something alien (and often instinctively repulsive) by human mind; second, her rapid withering within narration is quite alike that of arthropods.
Thus, one of the biggest fears accompanying Leonhard to his very end, was her gaze. Quite worth a special place to mention, wasn't it?

Welcome back, and we are further down our way. After you tried on Crown of Concenescence and got rid of its oppressive aura, it is time to be acquainted with Things Never Finished, Of which we tell you next.
There is absolutely no doubt that the brightest and most threatening image within whole novel is Leonhard's mother. From the very beginning her appearance in narration is coloured with uneasiness, anxiety and even more, obsession. Psychiatrists would feast on exteremely well displayed OCD case and gargle like vultures, but fortunately both we and narrative are quite far from that, so it is just the impression Mother brings to the reader and listener.
All her doings are that we find very fitting poetic metaphor for "ordinance of loss". See for yourself, when every sense of deed is sacrificed for sake of the very deed, and The Process becomes sacred. Not a single intention is meant to ever be finished, since in compulsive chaos it immediately substitutes with next one, and so on. Even more, going further we could say that this is the substitution of the whole life with such grotesque of one.
In general, if one speaks of Meyrink using patterns, here we are absolutely sure he voluntarily described Denial and Chaos at the same time, which is quite interesting by any means.
And of course, there is no doubt that the very fate of Meister Leonhard was heavily influenced with this image, almost in deterministic extent. That's why we devoted two songs to it. But that's a different story, so see you next time. Broken, deranged and emaciated.

Welcome to the next stop, and here is already the linchpin, "The Crown of Consenescence". As a song that was used for pre-release preview, it had quite peculiar coverage, but nevertheless there should be a comprehension of it, to integrate it to the very structure of debut release.
The Crown wreaths the forehead of The Meister, the very protagonist of the short novel and our narration as well. When he is finding his life coming to an inevitable end, among the ruins of his past (and as a ruin himself), he recalls the whole way of life he went through. Meyrink uses a flashback pattern very lightly, making it the core of story and coiling the narration. One could say this is another Ouroborous metaphor, but in this case it seems quite excessive, since there are pretty many other allusions and parallels.
Searching through his life continuously, the Meister tries to find some courage and conclude it all was not in vain, seeking for evident meaning or aim, but finds only mystery, chaos and fog instead. This vagueness will be paralleled later within the novel, but at this moment despair vividly fuses with desire for eternal peace.
We extracted some poetic patterns from this undoubtedly dramatic episode, and centered our message around some false goal that Meister inherited from his correspondingly strange (as a character) father - the search for Beyond. Pattern of Search is the driving force of every second narration, the point is that here this goal is false, which is unusual. The Meister seeks for wisdom, but this Search has no objective and leads nowhere, being just motion for the sake of motion. His search has neither system, nor devotion, and could be interrupted with literally anything, and the epitome of this falseness was portrayed in the episode with wandering doctor.
Thus, we find The Crown Of Consenescence the most fit reward for life of Meister Leonhardt, because being withered and obsolete is actually the only thing he deserved, according to his achievement and life story. Death equilibrates everything, and its mercyful hand brings atonement for any uneasy soul despite of all. At the edge of being flesh leaves any additional sense it carried and becomes one with itself.

So, here you have the 0 track, the first stone one steps on the road Beyond - "The Coldest Fire". As any introduction, its aim is to prepare the stranger to the path chosen, the scene to the action and the whole theater to overwhelming fire.
As one who has read "Meister Leonhard" may recall, fire has the cathartic image, as a mean to start the narration as a place to whom the protagonist is attached, as well as reason of all his previous life and memories of youth being terminated. Along with cyclic structure of plot, the cathartic meaning of fire increases even more, at the same time being aside of reasons and motives that drives the narration forward - and back again. A baptistry rather than a stream, if we are to say.
One should also notice that the atmosphere is extremely cold at the beginning, thus letting fire be the epitome of destruction, either dormant or committed, without warming hearth aspect. Thus we'd like to portray this dichotomy within such short song of short name.

Within couple of days remaining to release of our CD, let's talk a smidgeon more about its content.
As it was somehow clear from reviews already published, there will be six tracks total, including one introduction named "The Coldest Fire". The latter is meant to prepare listener's perception for subsequent raw black metal assault, that starts from long and epic "The Crown Of Consenescence" and ends with "The Greatest Of Circles".
If you are lucky to be acquainted with Meyrink's novel of regarded name, you could trace the elements of its narrative somehow from the start to the end of album, but there is no need to be focused on that. Instead, have a dive into cold and hollow atmosphere of the music itself.
Words can sound loud, but the art speaks much more clear.

As one would like to know, our self-titled first release is named after a peculiar short novel written by Gustav Meyrink, and the letter "t" at the end is added for making difference. Unlike his major novels, such as "The Golem" or "The Green Face", "Meister Leonhard" is quite less devoted to narrative itself. Although the very story of meister and his twisted family is dark and dreary, the most special thing about this piece of art is blend of atmosphere, provided by perfect wielding of the word. Images and tropes are woven tight, but the tapestry is loose enough to have space for interpretation and extension.
The trope of Search is literally bottomless, and when one extends is to Eternal Search for Beyond, as well as to even headspinning fusion of metaphysics and hermeneutics, the whole pictures takes attention, mind and cognitive spaces once and further.
According to the trope of Search, our respect to this outstanding literature exercize is just the first step on the road somewhere. While expressing our gratitude for the inspiration, we don't incarcerate ourselves within one narrow concept, feeling wide.
We are Beyond.
