Leaving my comfort zone. Yesterday, I took my first watercolor painting class, just for fun and to learn new techniques (wet on wet! W. The clouds!!). There are things are better learned with a good teacher, a lovely group to chat with, and good wine. Thank you, Sarah and 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

( Español abajito) The mushroom-based watercolor palette was launched at Mycofest! Perfect!!! Still not in our website. I will work on that.

Five colors come from mushrooms and are blended with mica or a plant based pigment, while the yellow came from onion skin. This batch of onion was richer in pigment, making a nice yellow.

We decided to call it Bayman, in honor of our professor from La Iupi who taught us mycology. Thanks for sharing the love and appreciation for mushrooms!! 🫶🏾🫶🏾

Español - Oficialmente lanzamos la colección de acuarelas a base de hongos y plantas. Celebramos su lanzamiento en el Mycofest!!

Tenemos que hacer update a la página. Fue mucho con demasiado este weekend y las semanas antes para preps.

Cinco de los colores.vienen de hongos y mezclas con micas o pigmentos de plantas. El amarillo sale de la cáscara de cebolla. En este bache herví a fuego las cáscaras, sacando un amarillo más intenso.

Decidimos (Eric y yo) llamar la colección Bayman, en honor a nuestro profesor de micología, con quién tomamos la clase y nos enseñó a cultivar el aprecio e interés por los hongos.

Paint MADE with CAZENOVIA Soil

The Soil gets it's name from Cazenovia, a town in Madison County, New York.

The town includes a village also named Cazenovia, which is located at the southeastern end of Cazenovia Lake.

The name of this soil is CAYUGA.

*Cayuga is one of the six nations of the Iroquois Confederacy, also known as the Haudenosaunee. The name Cayuga is derived from the Cayuga people's original name, which means

Yes, our previous black (not official) made from homemade into charcoal.
Tuller have a granulated AND delightful texture.

I like and enjoy making paintings to see how you transform them into works of art with your magic and creativity. will be giving a talk today about her work with watercolors in collaboration with Arte-Suelo-Ser .suelo.ser for the Caribbean Soil Museum. The talk is perfect for learning about the history of watercolors and techniques for their use. Currently, Thais is conducting her research project on the light resistance (lightfastness) of soil watercolors with our brand Zoils & Pigments.

These colors come from mushrooms, and the blue one is from a wild berry. I'm almost done with this batch and finishing the new collection from NY.

Then I will reveal their narratives through colors.

Los pigmentos de laca se ven tan deliciosos que me hacen pensar en un plato colorido y sabroso con mucha especia.
Estos colores provienen de hongos, y el azul es de una mora silvestre de Penny.

Estoy como cikitraki', casi terminando con este bache y finalizando la nueva colección de NY.

Un tbt al 2013, cuando Eric y yo eramos estudiantes en la iupi y cojimos la clase de Biologia de Hongos de Bayman. Entre los viajes de campo para buscar hongos y cocinar rico y vegano, ya siendo buenos amigos (mi buddy de buceo en advance) , nos dimos excusas para vernos más seguido. 🤗🫶🏾

A throwback to 2013, when Eric and I were undergrads en la iupi and took Bayman's Fungi class. Between field trips to search for mushrooms and cooking delicious vegan meals,- already being good friends (my dive Buddy for clases) we found excuses to see each other more often. 🤗🫶🏾

This is a hands-on workshop where participants will learn about the diversity of soils in Pennsylvania and have the experience of creating their own watercolors using soils and mushrooms. Throughout the workshop, participants will learn ethical soil harvesting practices, the process of converting soils into pigments, crafting inks from mushrooms, and transforming them into lake pigments. This journey will culminate in the creation of watercolor paints, with a self-reflection on why healthy soils are essential for thriving ecosystems.
