Yes, Robin's intense sniffing along the way, a thin grass blade up and down, along branches, a stone, bushes, treetrunks seem so crucial like life saving, I mostly let him have it as long as is needed.

Here's one thing you can do right now to make your dog’s life even better than it already is: let them sniff! Walking your dog provides physical exercise, but letting them sniff along the way will provide your dog with mental exercise and stimulation, too. Not only is sniffing important to your dog, but it is essential for your dog’s wellbeing. Studies have also shown that olfactory stimulation lowers a dog’s heart rate and reduces stress levels. Next time you take your dog out, we encourage you to slow down and let your dog "smell the roses" and other epic scents on their walk!

With their incredible instinct and survival skills, speed and their heightened sense of smell and vision, the Desi dog can easily hunt down and kill wildlife even as a single dog.
Here we are in the German forest. Training obedience is crucial if you want to walk off-leash and prevent harm to deers and rabbits, their natural preys.

I love a well trained dog. It's crucial if you travel with your dog and take him to most places.

As of today, the chances of your pet getting lost or injured have multiplied! :-O

Please tie till after this weekend!

From today Diwali will be celebrated with fireworks and hard music all over Goa. This will scare ALL animals which may panic, run-away or run into traffic. 😧 Goa is super-busy this weekend, there will be lots of inebriated people 🍾πŸ₯Ί that will still think it is ok to drive 😞. Please be prepared, be careful and take precautions as all animals are at risk; dogs, cats, cows and wild-life. If you feed dogs give them reflective collars with your telephone number of it or at least a label with your details.

The best things in Life are free. The woods, the light and an Indian Desi dog.

As you all know, all our dogs have had a sad past but since the day they land at Carol’s house their life changes forever. Brownie sadly escaped during Ganesh, scared and petrified of the fireworks.
Please EVERYONE share this post and let’s find our beautiful Brownie.
Thank you

A few weeks ago a Russian lady living in Mandrem contacted me about 3 female dogs that come to her house for food. She asked for help to get them sterilised.
Today Tim and I went to her house. Natali was able to tie one female on her balcony who is in heat.
For the other 2 females we will need trapcage to catch them. They are already passed heat.
Hopefully we will be able to catch them in the next few days.
Thank you Tim for doing the transport today and Natali to reach out to us, understanding the importance of birth control. πŸ™πŸ»

Every catch is different and rarely I have the opportunity to film. It irritates the dog too much normally.
This was a very interesting catch today cos the female walks in and out of the trapcage twice. She is very nervous about the structure of the trapcage, not so much about my presence. The first time in, she gets to eat all the food at the end without the door closing. The second time in, she not only puts her foot on the trigger but she puts her body weight on it. That only triggers the door to shut.
Don't try to close the door when the dog is only half-way in. They turn quickly and get out before the shutter is fully closed. It's hard to build trust again from there.

These 3 kittens were almost run over near Arambol bus stop. No mother around, most likely dumped here.
Please sterilise your pets πŸ™πŸ»πŸ±πŸΆπŸ’•
They are now safe with Richard and he found a home for the little white one.

Thanks to WVS for your professional care ..
Tomorrow we will collect more cats and dogs.

Taking 4 female dogs for their Op today to Stray Assist clinic in Pilerne.

In regards to loosing another beautiful, young female dog to poisoning last night, I like to remind that this poisoning will continue as we still have far too many dogs roaming free unsterilized in Arambol and around.

We have a lot of feeders in Arambol but no methodical plan for sterilisation. I have a constant number of about 22 female dogs that need catching. This number rarely goes down even with continuous catching and carrying to the clinic. The number often swells up to over 30 when I find new females on my rounds and when puppies mature into age.

There are many feeders who just drop food and leave. There is no plan of befriending and catching. The dogs come to eat when the human has gone out of its way. This adds BIG TIME to the problem and doesn't help Animal Welfare.

Dogs that are in search for food and are on the skinny side don't mate. Dogs and packs that recieve regular food, feel safe to mate and have offspring.

Feeding adds to the problem if not combined with befriending, catching and taking to the clinic for operation.

Wagner and I went yesterday with 4 females, all aged between 8 and 10 months from Pernem rd Arambol to bring to Stray Assist clinic in Pilerne cos we cannot afford to wait a week or 2 until WVS will be open again.

Soon many unsterilized females in Arambol will go into heat again. Some had many litters before and some will go into their first heat.

I have many on my list but that doesn't guarantee that they can be caught in time as many of them avoid human contact in lack of people who FEED AND BEFRIEND.

1 active trapcage is not enough. To trap the aimed dog and not all the others around takes weeks, months or years of preparation.

Since 1 week, Wagner and I have a 4-wheeler to use where we can carry more than 1 dog and a few cats.

For many dogs trapcage or a net with a pole is not an option for catching.Other strategies have to be thought through.

This all takes a lot of time, patience and ACTIVE PARTICIPATION.

Next week again we will try to collect 4 to 5 dogs. Priority are the females to prevent pregnancy. 1 male on the ride is welcome.

Poisoning hits randomly, sterilised, unsterilized, owned and stray dogs. It's a menace to every animal.

The only solution for the locals to control ever growing packs in Arambol is poisoning and removing the puppies from the mother, abandoning them somewhere else.

Only prevention of those cruelties is to work on the source of Animal Welfare which is Animal Birth Control which starts with taking animals for sterilisation.

Thanks to everyone who is already helping with the ABC (Animal Birth Control) in Arambol and around.

So grateful to have found this animal friendly family, Peter, Sheetal and her husband.

This morning I went out at 7 am to find Mama dog and YESSS she went into trapcage. It took 9 months of preperation. Only the last 4 days, she came to the feeding station wagging her tail and eating together with her daughters. It seemed like a miracle to me. Before she would run everytime into the woods hiding and only sneekpeek once she hears my motor leaving.
All her daughters were present this morning. They had been caught with trapcage last year and have become my friends since then.
I hope to keep good relation with this Mama dog, too, now that she started trusting me.
Wagner came to transfer her to his mobile crate and take her to WVS where she will get neutered and vaccinated today. Thank you, Wagner, thank you WVS for all the work that follows the catch .. πŸ™πŸ’–πŸ™
