Currently, James is a patrol sergeant and in charge of a patrol team!
He joins us on our next episode to talk about Peer Support within the department, and what mental health looks like for Officers/Deputies!

Caylin grew up in a household with not just one, but two law enforcement officers as parents 🚨. She was raised within the LEO community and knows the uniqueness of the lifestyle. She fell in love with helping others at a young age, and after trying on a few hats like working in the medical field, she found her true passion as a therapist 🛋️.

Ok ok… it’s been asked and we are here to answer! 🙈
“How did you two meet and start this podcast?”
This podcast has been an idea for over a year. Hailey had a mic and a concept (Mental Health & First Responders), but something always seemed to be missing. One day, a local group member posted on Facebook seeking help for their First Responder family. As is always true, we both commented immediately in support. Bre offered up her First Responder Spouse Support group and Hailey was all about it and had to ask for more deets. After a quick messenger exchange, and a brief introduction, Hailey joined the group!

A month later, Bre posted about wanting to start a podcast, but was unsure on how or where to even start… And just like before, a shared goal and a simple comment saying “I might have something for you if you’re interested” sparked something….this thing 🎙️
We planned to meet…. Bre got sick…. We planned again and finally made it happen. We vulnerably swapped stories… felt it out and 24 hours later had a name, logo, and every social media handle we needed. With absolutely no idea if it would work (no literally…logistically we had no idea what software to use or how to set it up) we went in and did it anyway! 😅
…..with maybe a little help from our spouses 😬……
After a year of sitting, it was clear what was missing. Although so new, we find ourselves growing closer and closer; both in our pursuit of supporting mental health for First Responders and in pursuit of growing our forever sarcastic friendship!
We know we still have lots to learn, and so much growing to do. We hope this continues to be something of healing and hope for every one of you. We know it has certainly given that to us in the short time since announcing TMC 🙏🏽 🙏🏾
Here’s to the weaving we didn’t know was happening, and the weaving we didn’t know we needed, all in the mission of The Mental Cover Podcast 🎙️🚨🧠

We wanted to take a moment to say…STICK WITH US! 🙏🏾
If you are local, you know our community and LEO’s have rallied in the last couple of days on a manhunt. We both sent our spouses out to assist their agencies and have made the decision to share this really raw experience as spouses and speak to the mental health of ourselves and our officers. We took a moment to debrief with our families but recorded our first episode YESTERDAY!
