Iām running the Auckland Marathon next month for The Fred Hollows foundation which provides cheap but life changing eye procedures to stop preventable blindness in the Pacific Islands!
Fred Hollows was a fantastic kiwi ophthalmologist who dedicated his life to helping others, in particular the Aboriginal and Pacific Islander communities where health care is not easily accessible.
Although he is no longer with us today, his organisation still lives on to provide vision. This charity is approved by the effective altruism movement , so you know your money is going to good hands!
Best thing is, my workplace has promised to match every dollar we raise šš½

It was actually too cold to be outside in a dress, but the sun was out for a bit and we wanted to take some quick snaps. Thanks for taking these cute pictures š @ Marsden Point, New Zealand

Views of both and in both directions. Such a majestic walk! This isn't an official track, but a nice man we meet on our walk helped us out and directed us to this awesome spot.

PART 2
š¤ Sorry it's a long story š¤
I'm part of the Auckland Vegan FB group and I came across this incredible post, which is about the BLM from an Australian Aboriginal (Koori) perspective. A small part of it is in relation to veganism, but for the most part it is a great description of the horrific things that Koori people faced in the past and still face to this day. She ties it into the racism Maori and Pacific people face in NZ.
Something I learnt from this post is the Australian and NZ governments are participating in the brutalisation of the people from Papa New Guinea.

It's easy to think that things are "less racist" on our side of the world, but we may just be better at hiding it.
