Earlier last month, I've joined a networking event attended by members across different Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, including Irleand, Chile, Italy, Netherlands, Mexico, Spain etc.

It was a wonderful experience meeting new friends and partners. One of the highlights of the night was meeting with Mr Manolo Chellarm and Manesh Manalo 8th generation of Chellaram family.

Good morning to you all, I always enjoy teaching and this time I've been invited to be a trainer with Jess Ng who is an English teacher for several years now.

Our aim in this Business English course is help young adults (aged 18 to 30) who are just about to step into their careers to better equip them ans upskill their English speaking, reading, writing & listening skills. One of the biggest overhaul in the UK Taxation system is finally released by HMRC, here is a quixk summary on some of the changes:

1) Inheritance tax (IHT) is currently a domicile-based system. The government intends to move IHT to a residence-based system, subject to consultation and applying this only from 6 April 2025

2) Current IHT treatment will continue for any non-UK property that is settled by a non-UK domiciled settlor and becomes comprised in a settlement prior to 6 April 2025

3) New trusts and additions to existing trusts made by a non-UK domiciled settlor on or after 6 April 2025 will be subject to new residence-based rules.

4) Ending the existing income tax and capital tax regime with the remittance basis of taxation will be abolished for UK resident non-domiciled individuals from 6 April 2025.

5) From 6 April 2025, a new regime for personal FIG will be available to individuals for the first 4 tax years once becoming UK tax resident after a period of 10 years non-UK tax residence

6) From 6 April 2025, an individual who is not, or who later ceases to be, eligible for the new 4-year FIG regime will be taxed on foreign gains in the normal way.

Who should worry about this:

- If you are a planning to migrate or relocate to the UK, you should start planning now before Apr 2025.

- If you have children in UK now, but you live in HK and majority of your assets are in HK. Succession planning is your main concern

It's good to be back on the basketball court again and playing at the Dunk in DB tournament hosted at Discovery Bay ESF college. 🏀

Great food and good company to celebrate our success of the year 2023. Thank you to our team leader for your continuous support and encouragement throughout the years. I hope this year will be even better than the last!

"Walk On" is one of the famous quotes by Mr Bruce Lee. The story behind the quote is when he was doing his morning training, Bruce injured his spine and initially the doctors informed him that he might never practice martial arts again, as the injury was so severe that it threatened his mobiliy.

Devastated by this news, Bruce became a researcher of his injury, his body and ultimately created his own path to healing. The journey was long and there were many ups and downs. At one point he took one of his business cards and wrote “Walk on” on the back. He put this card where he could see it to remind him every day to move forward with his recovery. No matter what anyone else said, he would always “Walk on."

A short visit to the HK Heritage Museum in Sha Tin. There is so much to see and learn inside in the museum. The mesuem is well kept with different arts and cultures of Hong Kong. Famous movie stars like Bruce Lee, Stephen Chow and Leslie Cheung were all on display in the museum.
