The Buddhist View of Wealth
In the Buddhist scriptures, there is the expression “ clean wealth”. which is called pure wealth.
Clean wealth is not only a necessary condition for subsistence, but also a benefit to society and mankind. So, what kind of wealth belongs to clean wealth then?
Firstly, clean wealth comes from a legitimate source. There is an old saying that a man of integrity pursues wealth through honorable means. Honorable means refers to a legitimate way of making a living, which is called Right Livelihood in the Buddhist Eightfold Path.
Only through hard work and wisdom can we enjoy wealth with an easy conscience and without worries.
Secondly, clean wealth needs to be used properly. The Buddha once and again taught us to adhere to the principle of leading a simple life. This is because desires are difficult to curb once they are stirred up.
A person can hardly forsake an extravagant lifestyle once it is formed. Just like earth's resources, a person's blessings are limited.
Overindulging one's desires brings nothing but harm to the mind and body. What's more, it withdraws happiness in advance.
Thirdly, clean money should be treated without greed and attachment. Anything that we crave for becomes the sharp blade that hurts us, just like the saying that "wine doesn't make people drunk, people get themselves intoxicated; lust doesn't overpower people, people surrender themselves to it."
If we are greedy for wealth, we will feel worried when in poverty and we will worry about losing wealth when in affluence.
Therefore, we need to recognize the essence of wealth: it is impermanent rather than eternal; it has its limitations and is not the sole purpose in life.
When we truly regard wealth as a mere worldly possession, we will stay away from the harm it may bring. While water can carry a boat, it can also overturn it. It is the same case with wealth.
Wealth in itself does not hold a good or evil nature. However, what makes it good or evil depends on how it is used. Those who are rich but cruel use wealth to do evil things, while those who harbor compassion for sentient beings use wealth to benefit others.

The contrast between the past and our present is quite obvious to everyone.

Not only in food, clothing, housing and transportation are the changes significant, but in urban development as well. The degree of modernization of some coastal cit-ies is not inferior to that of any international metropolis.

The convenience provided by technology has bridged the gap of time and space.Especially in today’s world where the Internet is everywhere, the dream that all under heaven are part of one family has been realized to some extent.

This has given us unprecedented convenience but, on the other hand, the contradiction between our modern lifestyle and traditional values is increasingly plaguing our hearts.

Spreading from coastal areas to the inland, from cities to rural areas, the race for development has also led to fierce competition.

In the countryside today, it is hard to find idyllic, quiet and peaceful sceneries, given the fact that they have mostly been replaced by many township factories.

Competition has made people rather restless.Living conditions have improved, yet few people feel really happy.

On the contrary, the pressure from work and the disorder brought by social transformation have filled our minds with anxiety and confusion. What can we do to solve these problems?

It is true that the afflictions we face originate from practical problems in life. However, the key to solving these problems lies in our views.

We are individuals that form society, and our behaviors and deeds not only have a bearing on personal happiness, but also influence society at large.

What Is Wealth In Buddha?
In daily life, people have their own ways to create and enjoy wealth.

Especially nowadays, the improvement of one's life, the embodiment of selfworth, and the achievement of social benefits are all measured by the increase of wealth.

However, as an old saying goes, "Men die for money and birds die for food." If we can't correctly recognize the advantages and disadvantages of wealth, we are likely to fall prey to it.

How does Buddhism view wealth then?

There is a story in a Buddhist sutra. One day, the Buddha led his disciple Ananda on an alms round. They saw a jar filled with gold on the roadside.

The Buddha said immediately to Ananda, "Look. Poisonous snake." "Indeed, it is a poisonous snake," Ananda replied. These words happened to be heard by a farmer and his son, who came to have a look out of curiosity.

At the very sight of the jar, the father and his son went wild with joy. They lost no time in carrying the gold back home, thinking that this stroke of luck from heaven would change their poor life.

Change indeed occurred, but not in the way they anticipated.

When the father and his son took the gold to the market in exchange for money, they were reported to government officials. The truth is that the gold they found had been stolen by burglars from the royal palace. During their escape, they dropped some of it along the roadside.

The father and his son, caught together with the gold, found it hard to prove their innocence. They both went from a state of extreme joy to one of great sorrow. Before their ex*****on, they eventually realized the true meaning of "poisonous snake".

Similar stories abound in real life. In recent years, some leading cadres have fallen from grace, from being respected civil servants to convicted criminals who abused their power for personal gain.

In retrospect, if we examine their trajectory, we find that money had gradually corrupted their minds. For instance, during year 2000 in Xiamen, more than 300 employees at different administrative departments and levels were involved in a massive smuggling case.

When those privileged members of a high social rank were put into jail, what was in their mind? When they had to pay with their life for what they had done, what was in their mind?

As the ancient saying goes, “Things rot first, then come insects.” It is the greed for money that had severely distorted their value system and led to their corruption. This kind of lesson warns us of the fact that money is tempting but at the same time extremely fatal.

Why is it fatal? It is because of mankind’s greed and the inability to recognize the hidden trap behind wealth.

Meditation is a means of transforming the mind. By engaging with a particular meditation practice you learn the patterns and habits of your mind, cultivate new patterns of mind, and find more positive ways of being. When the patterns of your mind have been changed, and in turn, altering how you perceive and respond to the world around you.

When people talk feng shui and trying to make sure their home has the right balance or chi, do we really know what that means? Feng shui is an ancient art and science that was developed over 3,000 years ago in China. The literal translation of “feng” means wind and “shui” means water. In Chinese culture, wind and water are both associated with good health. Thus, feng shui came to mean good fortune. Based on the Taoist vision and understanding of nature, the idea that land is alive and filled with energy, is called Chi.

Feng shui is essentially the interaction of humans and their environments. It enables you to influence these interacting energies to achieve specific life improvements. This influence is gained by positioning or designing your surroundings in harmony with principles of natural energy flow. Feng shui reveals how to balance the energies of any given space to assure health and good fortune for those inhabiting it. These systems of laws for spatial arrangement and orientation are taken into account when people are designing buildings, placing furniture and possessions and even bodies. It offers a unique way of looking at these elements and provides balance, comfort, and harmony into your environment.
