J.U. Blacksher Golf
The J. U. Blacksher Golf Team is open to anyone between the grades 7th-12th.
Thank you to the J.U.Blacksher PTO and the Uriah Athletic Club for sponsoring the sports banquet tonight! Everything was exceptionally nice and the hard work that went into planning this event was evident.
Congratulations to all our student-athletes for all your achievements throughout the 2023-2024 sports seasons! Regardless of what awards were given out, every student-athlete who learned how to be a better person, better communicator, and a better teammate gained invaluable lessons that will guide you throughout your life!

The athletic banquet will be held tonight @ 5:00pm in the Gym. We look forward to the attendance of all the members of the 2024 golf team and their families!

Blacksher Golf concluded our season today with a match in Baldwin County.
The low score for our boys was carded by Lawson Gross who also carded his personal best and the low score for the season.
The low score for our girls was carded by Gracie Weaver.
Very proud of our entire team! This sport is challenging and putting yourself out there takes courage and a willingness to hold your head high regardless if things go your way or not. Our entire team represented our school, themselves, and their families well in the way they carried themselves every match. For many members, this was the first year of competitive golf. We look forward to watching them grow in this sport!
Our lone senior was Tyler McGhee. Tyler was an excellent member and we hope that he is able to take the lessons he learned through this sport and apply them in his future. We will pull for him to be successful in whatever life has in store.
Thank you to the Rodrick’s for bringing water for the team today and thank you to all the parents who supported your kids playing the game of golf! At some point, I saw each participant have parental support on the course. That means the world to your kids. Thank you for being present and involved in their interests!
The final match of the season is tomorrow at Holly Hills. Tee time is set for 2:00 (guys) and 2:30 (girls). This will be a 9 hole match. We will leave from the school around 12:30pm.
Today, Blacksher golf competed in a match vs. Baldwin County, Thomasville, and Excel. There were some "personal best" scores recorded from some of our golfers.
Lawson Gross tied his personal best and recorded the low boys score for our team. James Rabon carded his personal best score as well.
The low girls score for our team was Madilyn Brooks and the combination of Madilyn and Gracie Weaver finished 2nd overall in the girls event.
Our next match will be held Monday (April 22nd) in Bay Minette @ Holly Hills Golf Course. Tee time is tentatively set for 2:00pm. We will practice Thursday from 3:45-5:00.
Our next match is tomorrow (Monday, April 15) in Monroeville. We will play Baldwin Co and Excel beginning at 3:00pm. Carts for spectators will be available for rent.
Girls will wear white polo and boys will wear black polo. We will leave from the school on the bus at 1:20pm.
Due to extremely wet conditions, the course will not be used today for after-school practice. If there are any members who would like to meet at the course tomorrow (Friday)after school, please let me know. Our next match is set for Monday in Monroeville vs. Baldwin County and Excel. Tee time is 3:00pm
There will be a range practice session opportunity tomorrow in Monroeville from 3:45 to 4:45 (weather permitting). Our next match is Monday in Monroeville vs. Baldwin county and Excel. If a reschedule is set for our past Match in Thomasville that was cancelled, we will post an update.
With the precautionary requirements placed on Monday, dismissal for all Monroe County schools will be 3:10pm. Therefore, we are unable to travel to Thomasville for the scheduled Monday match. We are working on a makeup date for this match. Once a makeup date has been set, we will post an update. For Any member of the team who would like to meet in Monroeville at the course on Monday after dismissal, we will work on the range and the course.
Today, Blacksher Golf competed in the 3rd match of the year. Today's low boy's team score was shared by Lawson Gross and Jackson Rodrick.
The low girl's score was carded by Madilyn Brooks (Madilyn was also the low girls score for the entire event). Both Madilyn and Gracie Weaver won the overall girls match.
Our next match is set for Monday, April 8th in Thomasville.
Our next match is Monday (the day we return from Spring Break). We will play in Monroeville and tee off at 3:00pm. The bus will leave from the school at 1:20pm. Golfers will be excused at 1:15pm.
Today, J.U. Blacksher Golf competed in their 2nd event of the 2024 season. Extremely proud of our entire team for continuing to work at a game that is challenging, yet enjoyable at the same time. Some members saw their first action, while others improved on their score from the first event. Each member did a great job today in learning how to manage themselves on the course.
The lowest score for the boys today was Tyler McGhee.
The lowest score for the girls was Gracie Weaver (Madilyn Brooks was only one shot behind).
After two events, Lawson Gross and Matthew Kirchharr share the lowest average individual score on our team. Our next event will be April 1st in Monroeville vs. Excel.
Received word that the teams we were scheduled to play in Monroeville today (escambia county and Monroeville) will not be participating. However, we will still play today in team grouped pairings. These scores will be recorded as official AHSAA scores regardless. We will tee off at 3:00pm.
Our next match is tomorrow (Monday, March 18) at 3:00pm in Monroeville. Our lady golfers will wear white polos and our gentlemen golfers will wear the black polo shirts. We will take the bus and depart from the school around 1:20pm.
The match that was scheduled for March 11th in Jackson has been cancelled. Our next match is scheduled for March 18th. That match will begin at 3:00pm in Monroeville.
Today, the 2024 Blacksher golf team competed in their first match of the season. Each member did a good job and learned a lot about what they can do to get better throughout the season. Very proud of each of them.
The lowest Boy’s score for our team was Matthew Kirchharr. The lowest girls score was Gracie Weaver who also was the lowest girl score overall.

Tomorrow (Monday), we will take part in the first match of the 2024 season. The match will begin at 3:00pm in Monroeville at the Vanity Fair Golf Club. The bus will leave from the school at 1:15pm. All members of the team are required to ride the bus to the event.
There will be carts available to rent at the course for spectators.
Schedule Change:
March 4th- we will play in Monroeville and not Thomasville.
April 8th- we will play in Thomasville and not Monroeville.
Tee time for both dates- 3:00pm.
Practice schedule for this week:
Tuesday- 3:45 @ Monroeville
Thursday- 3:45 @ Monroeville
Opening match of the season is March 4th in Thomasville.
Pictures are scheduled for Tuesday at the course in Monroeville (3:45pm). We will practice after pictures. Boys should wear white team polo and girls wear the alternate color team polo.
We will not meet for practice tomorrow. We will practice Tuesday and Thursday in Monroeville this week.

Golf team pictures are scheduled for 2-13-24 in Monroeville at Vanity Fair Golf Club. All members of the team are expected to be there for pictures. I will go over what we will wear during practice next week.
Tomorrow is a 1:00 basketball game followed by wrestling at 4:30. Our players are encouraged to attend in support. We will not practice tomorrow but will meet in Monroeville on Thursday for practice at 3:30.

Practice begins Monday (1-22-24). We will meet on the football practice field during this first week. If you have not given me a copy of your updated physical, please do so as soon as possible. Practice will run from 3:30-5:00. As indicated in the information letter sent home, we will practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

2024 golf schedule. Practice will begin on January 22 after school. Each player was sent home information on practice and expectations. Please review information and contact me at the school if you have any questions or concerns.
**All players must have an up-to-date physical examination before they can practice or compete.
The 2024 Golf team will be working the concessions for home basketball games for the following dates:
January 9 and January 16
All members of the golf team need to make plans to work both dates. Please see me Monday for your time slot.
