💜 Honoring the Hearts for Hospice Initiative 💜

These beautifully hand-stitched Hearts for Hospice have been lovingly crafted by the members of the Lamplighters Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America in Woodstown, New Jersey. We’re happy to announce these heartfelt creations are being generously donated to Angelic Health’s Hospice Team for use in local healthcare facilities.

Each heart symbolizes compassion, care, and the profound respect we hold for those nearing the end of life’s journey. When a patient passes, one of these tender hearts is placed on the door of their room, serving as a gentle yet powerful signal of their transition and a request for the utmost honor and reverence.

But the significance doesn’t end there. These touching mementos are then passed on to the family, providing a lasting remembrance of their loved one and the comfort of knowing they were surrounded by care and compassion till the end.

If you’d like to bring the Hearts for Hospice initiative to your healthcare facility, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Together, we can extend the reach of this meaningful gesture and bring solace to more families in our community.

Thank you to my fellow stitchers who poured their creativity and love into these hearts, and to Angelic Health for their dedication to providing dignified and compassionate end of life care. Together, we’re making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

P.S. I made the red white and blue striped one on the right!

CHEERS TO US!

Angelic Health Palliative Care Receives Distinctive National Accreditation

Angelic Health Palliative Care is the first and only palliative care program in New Jersey and only the eighth in the country to receive community-based palliative care accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). This unique recognition shows Angelic Palliative Care has provided patients with advanced levels of quality care, integrity, and effectiveness consistent with ACHC high standards.

"We are proud to be pioneers in the field of community-based palliative care" said Sheila Lill MSN, APN, ACHPN, director of palliative care at Angelic Health.

Angelic Health Palliative Care has served over 7,000 since its founding in 2018. The program provides patients with chronic conditions such as congestive heart failure, cancer, COPD, dementia, and other life altering diagnoses, with expert care by Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) and support staff.

“This is not only great endorsement of the 40 members of the palliative care team of clinicians, leadership, and support staff, but also an assurance to Angelic Health patients of unmatched quality care,” said Angelic Health CEO Dan Mikus.

ACHC is a nonprofit organization that sets and evaluates quality healthcare standards in the United States. The accreditation process includes a thorough evaluation of the quality of care provided, patient and family satisfaction, and the program structure. Those programs receiving ACHC accreditation have met its high standard for performance with a greater focus on patient care.

Angelic Health was founded in 2014 and has grown into a healthcare leader in hospice and palliative care. It is also accredited in hospice care by ACHC. Angelic Health is based in New Jersey, with offices in PA and South Carolina.

The Importance of Early Detection and Lifestyle Changes in Prediabetes
By Dr. Patti Newton - Nurse Practitioner

The Significance of Detecting Prediabetes

Lab results alone do not provide a complete picture of your health. However, when it comes to conditions like prediabetes and diabetes, certain tests can offer valuable insights. By correctly interpreting these results, healthcare professionals, such as nurse practitioners and physicians, can provide an early indication of your risk for developing diabetes, if they have been trained to know which tests need to be ordered and how to accurately interpret the results.

Relevant Tests for Assessing Prediabetes

To accurately determine if you're insulin resistant and heading towards diabetes, specific tests are crucial. These include fasting glucose, hemoglobin A1c, C-peptide, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and fasting insulin levels. By assessing these markers, healthcare providers can better determine your prediabetes status, going beyond the accepted "normal" range and considering optimal levels.

Taking Action with Lifestyle Changes

Many healthcare providers and patients often overlook the importance of lab results, assuming that everything is fine if the values fall within the "normal" range. Knowing what the optimal levels are, however, is much more insightful. If you find yourself in the prediabetes zone, there are numerous lifestyle changes, particularly in nutrition, that can correct the imbalance. It's important to dedicate time and effort to make these changes, but finding a knowledgeable coach is also crucial since misinformation can be abundant, even from the most well-intended “health coach.”

Empowering Your Journey

If you're genuinely committed to making sustainable lifestyle changes and moving away from fad diets, I can guide you towards a trusted program that I rely on for myself and my family. Whether you're ready to start now or need more time to decide, remember that I'll be here to support you whenever you're prepared to take that step.

In conclusion, understanding the early signs of prediabetes and taking action before diabetes sets in can have a significant impact on your health and well-being. Lab results, when interpreted correctly, provide crucial information, but they're not the sole answer to your health concerns. By combining accurate assessments with lifestyle changes guided by reliable sources, you can proactively manage your risk and work towards a healthier future.

Remember, there is always more to the story, and I'm here to provide ongoing support and guidance as you embark on this journey of prevention and wellness.
