Leaders and Members of the Ethiopian Community of Michigan were invited to the "Ethiopia at the Crossroads" gathered at TMA.
An Ethiopian exhibit and panel discussion by HIH Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie and Dr. Alula Pankhurst on Ethiopian art, cultural heritage, and repatriation efforts also took place.
The community celebrates the return of a 19th-century ornamented Ethiopian shield seized by British Troops following the Battle of Magdala.
The shield was on display at TMA. The Magdala Shield will make its final journey home in November and will be housed in the National Museum of Ethiopia, where it will be on display for the Ethiopian people and visitors from around the world.
