I definitely feel more at home in my studio than any other place. Being able to experiment, play, make mistakes, learn, grow, and TRY is what helps me grow daily as an artist. We all need safe space to do this. Comment below and tell me, what does your safe space look like?

"Working with Shadows & Rainbows,"
Life is about learning how to work with the shadows along with the rainbows, working with the joys as well as the hardships. Because life is gorgeous, full of love & immense joy, and also devastation and gut wrenching heartache. The peace comes with knowing how to life alongside all of it and still being grateful for it all. ❀️

We went kayaking this weekend, and I took these pictures of the reflections in the water. I felt so inspired by these reflections and hoped the pics would show what I saw. They're pretty close to my vision, and I am inspired to paint my interpretation of these images!

post for today, here is my largest painting to date. It's 4' x 3' and I'll admit, when I first saw that giant blank canvas, I froze from fear a little. Fear of "messing up." But once the paint was moving, all those fears and doubts left.
This is one of my favorite pieces so far, for many reasons, including the meaning behind it, the size, and the final product. Makes me motivated to do more larger pieces. 😊

Today's is a combo of yesterday's prompt as well, since I missed the selfie. Today is , and my turning point was when I started calling myself an artist, and answering the question of "what do you do?" With "I'm an artist."
Even if it's not my full time job yet, creating art is what I DO. It's in my veins, it's what brings my heart and mind to life. And once I started referring to myself as an artist, my confidence about my work came with it.

Photos from Sunny Crump - Artist's post 12/01/2021

Current started this morning. I love what's happening with these. One thing that I have to push through is the fear of "messing up" a good piece.
But what I have learned is that when I come at it with a mindset of fun, of experimenting, of learning, I am more brave with my marks. And that's kind of like life, isn't it?
When we try to create something perfect, the Universe reminds us that we aren't in control, but when we open up to what will be, to what IS, and allow life to flow, things tend to really flow.
What things could you let go of and allow to flow?

Here's my art book for Day 4 of πŸ“š
When I am in a painting session, I usually have some type of journal or sketchbook close nearby, and will make marks in that book along with my larger pieces. These bound pieces almost always fit the same vibe and energy of the larger pieces, and creates a mini curated version of my work.
Sometimes I go back over these minis and work on them, sometimes I leave them as is. But there is almost always a smaller version of my work hidden in a book somewhere in my studio. ❀

One of my many works in progress.

I'm jumping into this challenge, but jumping in nonetheless! My dive back into my art has been its own work in progress.
Remembering how my brain tends to focus everything through an artist lens, and realizing my worth in the art world, has been a journey.
Working through limiting beliefs telling me that my work isn't good enough is an almost daily practice, but the beauty is in the practice itself, it's in that journey of finding myself through my painting. My true style is coming back to the surface, and taking some twists and turns along the way. But what is art without experimentation, without exploration? Pushing outside of the comfort zones is where the magic can be found.
So here's my work in progress today. I can't wait to see what comes of it!
