๐ Happy Humpday feedback from a recent visitor of the Lyell McEwin Hospitalโs Birthing Unit.
โI just wanted to give some feedback about the midwife Jodie who delivered my baby. Midwife Jodie was on scene from when I pushed the doorbell at the Birthing Unit. Jodie was so lovely, listened to me and gave me options within my birth. This was my third birth at the Lyell McEwin, and was the best experience I had. I was asked "how do you want to labour? Standing? Sitting? On the bed?" Midwife Jodie seemed very knowledgeable, professional but showed a great deal of person-centred care towards me.
My experience with the Lyell McEwin, throughout my pregnancy and labour has been great. I found the midwives I dealt with all to be supportive and kind no matter how silly the query was. โ.

Heartwarming feedback like this makes Thursdays pleasant here at the Lyell McEwin Hospital.
โI recently had an appointment to follow up on a breast lesion in the Breast Clinic at Lyell McEwin Hospital. I would like to provide feedback on some advice I was given to follow up with my sisters to make sure they are getting mammograms and breast checks due to a strong family history of breast cancer. I did this, and it turns out one of my sisters was waiting until she was 40 (current age 36) before getting a check. She got a referral from her GP as a result of this conversation and booked a mammogram. She was found to have calcifications, which were stage 0 DCIS in one of her breasts. I would like to say thank you for the valuable advice for our family.โ

This week is Dental Health Week.
Our oral health is vital to our overall health and wellbeing, and it's important we maintain a solid routine to ensure our mouth is clean.
Follow the tips below to improve your oral health:
๐ง Just a dot โ not a lot! - use a โdotโ of toothpaste, the size of a pea, on the toothbrush.
๐ง Spit donโt rinse - after brushing, spit the toothpaste out but donโt rinse with water.
๐ง Brush morning and night - to keep your teeth healthy, brush your teeth in the morning and before bed at night.
๐ง Less sugar a day helps prevent tooth decay - reduce the amount of sugary foods and drinks per day.
๐ง Drink more tap water, and don't delay, for healthy teeth, make it your way!

Barbie became a Registered Nurse in 1961 and a doctor in 1973!
Today, at the Lyell McEwin Hospital we hung up our superhero capes for the day and celebrated all things pink, with a โBarbie themed Dayโ. In between treatment and rest, our littlest dolls and our wonderful staff had the opportunity to enjoy some special photos with therapy dogs, Arlo and Nala, from The Hospital Research Foundation Group.
We love these smiles!

Positive patient experiences make us all feel brilliant here at the Lyell McEwin Hospital! ๐ค
The sensational team in the Children's Ward received the below feedback from a consumer who recently attended the ward with a sick child.
โThe care we received was of a very high level and made the majority of my anxiety and worries disappear. Every nursing staff member, including medical staff, were both friendly and polite and conveyed high professionalism and compassion towards us. Everyone introduced themselves and checked in regularly throughout their shifts, which was very appreciated.
Staff have all got smiles on their faces and are more than happy to offer as much time as you need even if they are busy. A simple favour of allowing me to stretch my legs and get a coffee from lack of sleep was such a simple yet generous offer.
A special mention to Maddie, who I believe is a graduate nurse. Maddie cared for us for a few days in a row. It isnโt very often you see a new junior nurse with such initiative and compassion. She is full of knowledge and clearly works hard to push herself in her career. No job was too big or too small. She has the potential to go far!
We hope to not have to be back in hospital any time soon but wouldnโt hesitate if we had to return.โ
To Maddie and the Children's Ward Staff, you make us all
