I've always loved the thought that "swans mate for life". One of the first glass pieces I attempted was of swans. My dad had sent me pictures he'd cut out because I'd shared with him my desire to make something with swans. I remember telling him that I was having a hard time figuring out a way to cut the glass to complete the sky. He assured me I'd figure it out. Soon after that conversation I was called home to "say goodbye", while there was still time. I will always treasure my dad's confidence and love, and I'm comforted by the thought that my parents, mates for life, were together once again.

The last of the Birch trees for a while. I purchased the glass for the leaves during a recent trip to Ohio from Franklin Art Glass. I remember my dad buying glass from the same store over 47 years ago.
