*1 AM UPDATE* Storms closing in on New Orleans NOT SEVERE but seeing a lot of rain especially Northshore that got a ton of it Wednesday. Even more storms west. Potential severe line still expected after 4 am but flooding could become a real threat fast, once again.
POURING right now over Covington, Madisonville, and Mandeville with a number of lightning strikes right around the beginning/end of the causeway. Same spot where around 7" of rain fell Wednesday! Be Safe!
Hefty storms now affecting Houma and Thibodaux. These COULD move towards New Orleans in the next hour, but not expected to be severe. MAIN batch of storms that COULD bring severe threats still forecast after 4 am.
*MIDNIGHT UPDATE* Strong storms rolling through the Northshore and River Parishes just some breezes, cloud to ground lightning, MAYBE some small hail, but locally heavy rain is certain. Main round of storms still look to be after 4 am and that poses greatest threat of severe.

Fog already an issue especially in and around Lake Pontchartrain where a Dense Fog Advisory is now in effect until 9 am. There's a chance the advisory could be expanded later tonight. Take it "low and slow" on roads tonight. That's "low beams" and "slower" speeds!

Just stepped outside and this is truly the WORST weather in the world. The coldest rain you could get without it being a pretty snow. It's ugly out there, and potentially dangerous too just north and west of NOLA! Stay in and be safe!
Roads could be getting dangerous with waves of precip now looking to last up until daybreak. This will interact with air temps below 30° in some spots, that's where ice starts to form on bridges, overpasses, elevated roads, and even ground level roads! Stay in and be safe!
One round of precip moving out, another moving in. Not liking temps around Hammond if this second wave hits you. Roads could be dicey through 3 am - 5 am with this last wave of freezing rain in places! Keep warm Tuesday!
Freezing rain moving through the Northshore right now and just beginning in St. James and St. John the Baptist Parishes too. Drizzle has started even here in New Orleans, but it's just rain, nothing icy! We're here all night long on this WDSU First Warning Weather Alert Day!
