With this final event we completed the initial series of To Mend, forming a circle without a closure but rather an opening. It required a practice to be a witness and give evidence, to make sense of the invisible; โ€œI try to identify those weights and whispers whose presence cannot be seen with the eyes. To pin down the ambiguous forces that influence this placeโ€*. Over a year and half โ€˜To Mendโ€™ has been tracing invisible threads and hidden realities throughout the cityscape of Berlin. A surreptitious sidelong glance at the city, its unemphatic passages, gaps and syncretic simultaneous times through which it evolves โ€” live decay repair thrived. Certainly an endeavor to access cross-currents of cultural thinking and map out history and legacy, landscape, society, art or politics onto the urban planning and the streets themselves.

So much bliss, gratitude and love - Divine Source for the trust that that allows me to be a vessel for this work, process and enthralled experience.

The twelfth event of โ€˜To Mendโ€™ sheds light upon national representations of cultural heritage, the affinity of systems between history, inter-generational memories, and processes of change that frames the identity of a place. When these monumental vestiges of the past preserve themselves within entangled rings, our mending action ignites a torch, unraveling memories from forest to sports facilities to grounds of performative nationalism and political stratification; today home to football clubs and cultural events. The twelfth event of โ€˜To Mendโ€™ will negotiate the multiverse of this land of relics, examining balance and trust in the present toward the future. To celebrate diversity and shun the stored prejudices against race, religion and culture; finding and releasing a deep inner peace within this dynamic urban atmosphere. A crack in the concrete reveals a single oak tree bearing witness to the histories passing by. The depth of our life is measured by our ability and faith to expand the human horizon over many generations and times.

So much bliss, gratitude and love - Divine Source for the trust that that allows me to be a vessel for this work, process and enthralled experience.

The eleventh event of โ€˜To Mendโ€™ took place at Bezirk Steglitz-Zehlendorf and will address a rift in the area of Lichterfelde, where a memory of silent horror remains alive. Our mending action entered a stagnant cloud at the bank of the Teltow canal, near the Eugen-Kleine bridge, where a stone pillar commemorates the prisoners at KZ-AuรŸenlager Lichterfelde; a forced labor subcamp of Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. The camp detained non-conformist civilians from countries invaded and persecuted by the National Socialists. Commemoration is correlated to the notion of eternity, reaching forever for a transformative form of justice. Alongside the importance of cultural commemoration, we also need to develop greater capacity to choose to be courageously alive. When we synchronize with the โ€˜Time-Woundโ€™ frequency it allows an opening; sediments float upon the surface, triggering possibilities for mature growth and release. The work of โ€˜To Mendโ€™ conveyed the rift beyond an awareness holding the fear of time. A work of mediation between the present moment as a sage teacher and the imprints of past narrative memories; crafting a guideline for generations to come. Repairing the scarred and broken earth to lay new foundations for worldly eternal structures.

An elliptic green area on the map of the city bewitched my finger, uncovering a glacial body of water that in ancient times people called, "Blanke Helleโ€ or "Hel-Pfuhlโ€. Since the twentieth century, a city-square named Alboinplatz has been developed around this lentic shadowland. Its mythical directionality reoriented over time, reflecting a โ€˜mirror of the skyโ€™; a vanishing point within an urban garden. At the great and central height of the landscape, a bull overlooks the pond, carrying a remarkable story in its stone bellyโ€ฆ

The tenth event of To Mend will address a rift at Bezirk Tempelhof-Schรถneberg; an area where myth and religion, art and politics, geological landscapes and human society entangle with historical narratives and allegorical memory. A voice from unknown and benevolent wildness will allow the mending, to bear naked the spells from surreptitious urban planners of the area. Our mending will abstract the depression and darkness of this โ€œdead-ice-holeโ€ and the surrounding vicinity; generating a transfiguration of the mystical within cultural encounters from the past and our present. Following the savage pool, we will reveal the light toward metamorphoses and transformation. Enlivening this enchanted place and honoring the untamed strength, yielding longevity to this territory of eclipsed legend.

Gratitude & infinite love to my cllaborator Gadi Demer who is walking with me this enthralling path !

The ninth event of 'To Mend' will take place at the rift in Schmargendorf (Ortsteil), under the administration of the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf Bezirk. Our mending journey continues to squeeze into the gaps of urban-planning and between the crevices of Nature and Human, City and Landscape; into areas that encompass both the urban and the rural, the social and capital remnants of industry, between legacy and vision. Like a body part of the city which is holding its breath, counteracting the pressure of growth.

Alongside a chaotic tension of the municipal, socio-economic, real estate and cultural factors; there is a call to redefine fundamental value systems of sensibility towards a biodiverse environment & sustainable preservation, transforming the very continuity of the horizon. At the site, a guardian chimney from the past stands on a blank page, still as a cyclops on the battlefield. The smoke of the tube's progression used to be blinding. Now, it embodies a fluted monument between the sky and earth, witnessing and cycling between directions. Humanity as an organic part of the cyclical movement of nature, co-creates a symbiotic dance with its rhythm. The mending act will restore a holistic fragrance of harmony and health; a Place in the Heart, honoring the legacy, abundance and speculative visions of how one lives in, or rather, with the ecosystem of a city.

On March 8th we gathered for the eighth event of โ€˜To Mendโ€™;
mending a rift at the WeiรŸensee quarter.

During the action, an embodied-image came to me; the water from the lake rising up in a vase-like-shape, a massive fountain arching over us like a flower becoming a 360 degree hug, embracing the whole rift. It was a special sensation. I could lean backwards into a soft and containing sphere.

In the morning before I wrote this after-thought and expressions of gratitude, I randomly opened the book of Tehillim (Psalms) to tune my mind and it landed on chapter 114. I believe that there are no coincidence in life. This chapter links with Passover the current holiday in the Jewish tradition. I resonate with the last sentence of this chapter (in Hebrew), because it hides within it a sacred and transformative reading. In other words poetry; an intimacy through language. โ€˜Who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of watersโ€™.

Much gratitude to Gadi, my partner for this mending journey. Sarah Mรถller, Franziska Dieterich and teaque owen who support wholeheartedly the process. Alexander from Strandbad Weissensee that was willing to be in a conversation with us. Michiel Keuper and Marc Seestadt documenting and beyond the events. The curiosity and the precious presence of the participants. Thank you Thank you!!

๐ŸŒŸ

โ€˜You could never get used to the fear, says a timekeeper. Fear flew with bullets across the shelled city. Countless whistles through Berlin. One broke through the bridge pillar. Like butter.โ€™ *

The seventh event of โ€˜To Mendโ€™ addressed a rift at Bezirk Charlottenburg, with an epicenter of LeibnizstraรŸe. As life goes by renovating itself, โ€˜To Mendโ€™ continues to observe memorial culture in the city. The action detected unofficial hidden remains from the Battle of Berlin in the S-Bahn bridge that crosses LeibnizstraรŸe and several biographies of people, Jews and non-Jews alike, whose Stolpersteine are located in the immediate vicinity of the bridge as well as in DuisburgerstraรŸe. In a transformative act, we listened to the stories of these streets, a zone of high intensity, releasing these stray souls above the rift back toward infinity. Through a dissociative labour between notions of forgiveness and forgetting, the wounds and "cracks" of the past are to be healed.

To Mend | Event Nr. 6 | ื™ื“ ืœืฉืœื•ื Hand for Peace

The sixth event of โ€˜To Mendโ€™ was extended again to the legacy of the cityโ€™s railway system. The event delved into a rift at Bezirk Tempelhof-Schรถneberg, addressing the history of Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk Berlin-Tempelhof, another place no longer existing in the urban landscape, yet sediments still linger in the complex interconnected layers of space-time. Today, the site is an area of commerce, including IKEA, Bauhaus, and Deutsche Post, another pivot in the story of the place. It is time to mend; emancipating the harms of the past from the riftโ€™s wide area, through a transformative act of release and forgiveness.

The title given to the event is Hand for Peace, named as a semantic and philosophical response to an inscription on the WWII memorial, โ€žToten des Bombenkriegesโ€œ, built at the site by the members of the Deutsche Reichsbahn to commemorate their wounded and deceased colleagues during the war. The end of the memorial inscription reads, "You must not be next, so fight with us for peaceโ€œ.

Thank you for the generosity of the participants that made the work more profound! ๐Ÿ’™

To Mend | Event Nr. 5 | ืžืจื›ื‘ื•ืช ื—ื•ืคืฉ

The fifth event of 'To Mend' attended to the underground of the city and its railway services. The event took place in the district of Mitte Bezirk where the mending action was dedicated to Nordbahnhof, formerly named Stettiner Bahnhof. During this event, we traveled way back in history to unearth a rift that began in the 18th century, the gallows being previously located in this area. The area has undergone many changes and upheavals during its human occupation; at one point a zone of glamour then turning into a place of heightened intensity and conflict. The rift incorporated the social, political and environmental memories over time, continuing to expand and deepen to about 100 meters under the earth/ground until the 1980s. Since then, it has remained the same size. One coping strategy to mediate the divisive legacy in Berlin has been to attend to these complex pasts on a superficial level in the cityโ€™s reconstruction. Still, vital restoration work is needed for lingering sediments of the past to excavate the interconnected layers of time-space memory.

I give a lot of gratitude for the blessing of rain during our mending. For me, the essence of rain is a connection between the upper and lower worlds. Its clearing presence gave a large dose of strength to the mending action.

A month ago, on October 3, the forth event of To Mend took place at DOCK11 theatre located in Prenzlauerberg neighbourhood.

Like the number four the forth event was perhaps an anchor to the mending process and the fourth rift to which the research attended. Bringing the research into a โ€˜commonplaceโ€™ the theatre space, was an opportunity to expose and invite others to join the mending journey. The mending action was a tribute to the DOCK11 theatre, and the historic date, October 3rd, the German Unity Day, that strengthen the mending of the district and the city as a whole.

In the preparation for the event an overwhelming extra spice added - that made me realise how much the script this research writes is phenomenal. We discovered a connection between my genealogy and the building where DOCK 11 was founded.

These To Mend Events thrill the heart with their delicate and deep melody.
Thanks to the place, DOCK 11 for the trust and support, to Wibke and Anna.
Thanks to Gadi for being my mentor and partner for this wild journey.
Thanks to Franziska Dieterich who joined us and Sigal Zouk, Jette Anton and Igor

A sneak peak to To Mend | Event Nr.3 that took place yesterday in the body of the city of Berlin as part of my topological field in the public space. This third action was to mend and repair the massive, human-universal and cosmological rift caused by the division of the city into East and West.

โ€ฆWe crossed the bridge and I looked sideways to the open view, and the train that came rapidly towards us and suddenly struck me a strong palpable sensation, a voice that told me, Mor, this is life, this is life. You get it? Are you alive? It may sound simple and banal but if one dissect this moment when I crossed the bridge, those are such fragile moments of truth that even before I caught and breath it in, it retreated away and attention shifted to a crosswalk on the other side of the road.

Thanks to Jette Anton and Sigal Zouk and my partners wherever they are in any place and time
Thanks to the city of Berlin that agrees to observe itself, agrees to change, to repair, to heal.
Thanks to my father and teacher who accompanies and part of this whole crazy process with great dedication.
Thanks for the joy of letting go of doubts and the endless learning.
Thanks to creator, the source.

And on the way if there are any sensitive videographers who are interested in joining us to document the actions and have a brave heart and equipment that is suitable for all seasons, please contact me !!
I would love to invite you to participate in the next action on October 3th at the Dock 11 Theater, which will also be an opportunity for me/us to share a space for reflection and perspectives for research.

On Friday I surrounded and encircled with the bicycle the massive rupture in the cosmos, which will be mended today, Sunday 29.08.21 in the third event called 'Without Walls', which is part of my research project To Mend

โ€Itโ€™s time to To Mend, we were given a window of time to repair!

COMEEEEE!โ€ It will be powerful ! ๐Ÿค˜
Invitation is in the images.
โ€
*** Those who are interested in joining the action but can not join us for any reason at the S-Bahnhof Nรถldnerplatz at 18:30 (please arrive a little earlier), you can join us at Warschauer Pl., 10243 Berlin around 20:00.

Itโ€™s the street that is from the other side of the station and train tracks of U-Bahnhof Warschauerstr.
There is an access through a small passage under the track and also there is another exit from the train station in this direction or from all the streets around.

To Mend | Event Nr. 3 is happening tomorrow!

There is a window of time To Mend this massive rupture!

Before the autumn is covering us with its blanket...
We will move through the body of the city with calm focus,
repairing (mending) what is torn, during the (still) late sunset.

Please join us !!
