DISTRICT MISSIONARY BARBARA GRAY
HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE
COVINGTON COUNTY BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB

In 1996, Barbara pioneered the Boys & Girls Club start-up in Covington County; and established the inaugural Board of Directors for the club by inviting community businesses and individuals to its first meeting. Barbara initiated obtaining a tax ID number for the club, establishing a 501c3 designation, and other non-profit organizational procedures. Strong determination, got the attention of the Boys & Girls Club of America. In 1997, the Boys & Girls Club of Covington County was chartered.

After the official launch, Barbara spearheaded educational and career readiness opportunities for the youth participants. The same concept for the club was also introduced into the community; academic success, healthy lifestyle, good character, and citizenship. These are the pillars upon which 461 Boys & Girls Club Alumni have graduated from high school. The Boys and Girls Club of Covington County has served over 40-50% of students in Covington County and surrounding areas.

To date, Barbara continues to serve on the Boys & Girls Club of Covington County Board of Directors as a Community Liaison and Event Fundraiser Chairperson. Barbara’s support consists of researching and soliciting donors to support the club. She continues to be at the helm of coordinating with local faith-based organizations, businesses, and other professional organizations. Although Barbara holds several roles within the Club's executive leadership, on any given day, Barbara can be seen at any of the numerous club sites volunteering and working with the children, distributing snacks, or even cleaning areas where the children play.

Women of Excellence would like to congratulate our founder, District Missionary Barbara Gray, as a 2023 Mississippi Boys and Girls Clubs Hall of Fame Inductee. Thank you for being a true champion for our children. God bless and keep you is our prayer.

Women of Excellence delivered gifts to the Covington County Department of Human Services foster children for the Christmas season. A special thank you Sis. Annie Buckley and Sis. Lasandra Hudson for spearheading the toy drive. Also, a special thank you to our District Missionary, Barbara Gray, and Missionary Diane Magee for being Santa Claus and delivering the gifts.

Thanking God for the Women of Excellence who put the finishing touch on the renovation project at Sustaining Grace Recovery Ministry. We appreciate our District Missionary Barbara Gray, Superintendent George Fairley and First Lady Aquilla Fairley, and all the Women of Excellence who gave of their time and energy for this project.

Please join us Saturday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Sustaining Grace Recovery Ministry to add the finishing touches to our Kitchen Renovation Project. See you then!

We appreciate the hard work of the Purity Retreat Coordinator, our very own, District Missionary Barbara Gray, District 16 Purity President, Mother Melissa Young, and we always thank God for the support received from our District Superintendent George Fairley and First Lady Aquilla Fairley. Missionary Doretha Goodman and the Women of Excellence from Faith Chapel COGIC delivering Mother's Day gift bags to the Plaza Community Living Center in Pascagoula, MS.

Women of Excellence delivered Mother's Day gift bags to women at nursing homes. We provided over 100 gift bags to mothers at Plaza Community Living Center in Pascagoula, MS, Arrington Nursing Home in Collins, MS and Bedford Care Home in Hattiesburg, MS. Thank God for the Women of Excellence who spearheaded this great work in ministry - Missionary Doretha Goodman, Sis. Lasandra Hudson, Sis. Tammy Miller, Sis. Shunta Pugh, and Missionary Joyce Strickland.
