Happy Detox Season! β˜€πŸŒ±

Spring is here, and that means it's time to start cleaning the body!

Take a look at my daily routine below for flushing toxins from the body and getting ready for the warmer season ahead!

MY DAILY DETOX ROUTINE:

πŸ‹ Morning Lemon Water:
First thing when I wake up, I fill an 8 oz glass of room temperature water, squeeze half a lemon into it, and sip through a straw (to protect my teeth!). Lemon is known to cleanse toxins, burn fat, and boost metabolism for the day.

🍌Lunchtime Smoothie:
Around noon, I enjoy a 'green smoothie' to fill up with vitamins, anti-oxidants and minerals. Smoothies are easy to digest and provide a boost of natural energy. My green smoothie includes: 1 ripe banana, 1 cup of organic spinach, a chunk of organic cucumber, the juice of half a lemon, some organic protein powder and a few pieces of ice. Blend and enjoy!

πŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Midday Yoga:
Moving the body helps to get blood flowing. Yoga in particular is a great way to squeeze out toxins from the muscles and organs, and the deep breathing helps to cleanse the lungs of stale air. I love the way yoga makes me feel grounded and clear-headed! I usually practice free yoga on YouTube.

❌ No alcohol or other substances!
In the wintertime, it's easy to end the day with a couple glasses of wine to unwind. Come spring, it's time to clean up this habit and give my liver a break! I've started to replace my nightly wine with a cup of herbal tea to help me unwind instead. I find chamomile tea extremely relaxing and helpful to let go of the day and prepare for sleep.

It's Smoothie Sunday. πŸ’š

Here's Our Favourite Anti-Inflammatory Green Smoothie Recipe:

Ingredients
2 large kale leaves
1 cup of spinach leaves
2 frozen bananas
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup frozen pineapple or kiwi
1 cup frozen strawberries
2 cups of water
1 tbsp h**p hearts
1 tbsp flaxmeal
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground turmeric
Pinch of black pepper

Instructions:
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high for 1 minute.

The BEST smoothie recipe!

We make this recipe everyday and the whole family loves it!

INGREDIENTS (per 1 serving):
-1/4 cup frozen wild blueberries
-1 ripe banana (frozen or fresh)
-1 cup almond milk
-1 tbsp cacao powder
-1 tbsp moringa leaf powder
-1 tbsp h**p hearts
-1 tbsp almond butter
-1 tsp maca powder

INSTRUCTIONS:
-Place all ingredients in your blender
-Blend for 30 seconds and serve cold!

Enjoy!
