Today is the 4th day pf regattas of the 1/8 Final Series of the
The double points day 🔥
Mariana Lobato - “ Yesterday we had an early start that obligated us to come back and start again with a bit of delay. But we didn’t put our arms down and tacked to the right side to get some proper wind to accelerate our boat. Then we tacked again and were neck and neck with the other teams. We are happy with our speed and maneuvers, we have been improving a lot, and the communication onboard is helping us to achieve our targets as a team. After a good fight with team Slovenia, we are happy with this 2nd place, showing we are a more solid team.”

Tomorrow is going to be the 3rd day of Regattas for the 1/8 Final Series.
Nuno Barreto - “Today’s race showed that we have been gaining consistency not only in the starts and maneuvers but also in speed both on upwind and downwind. We are happy with the team’s performance, increasingly cohesive and even though on our last race we were behind towards the last leg we managed to gradually reduce that distance and finish ahead by just 1 second!
For tomorrow, the weather conditions should be identical to today and we hope to be able to have another good race, so that we can consolidate the small points advantage we have at the moment. We will keep working to improve our performance. We know that we cannot make mistakes because in a competitive fleet like this, any mistake can mean the loss of valuable points at the end of the day.”

🇵🇹 ORC World Championship 2023
The ORC World Championship was officially opened on 6 of August until the 12 in Kiel, Germany, with 113 boats in three classes: ORC A, ORC B and ORC C with three separate courses. An offshore race with the start in Kiel Inner Fjord with strong westerly winds of 20-35 knots and the sea at full force the ORC B fleet raced a course with 17.3 miles, where some boats retired due to this harsh conditions.
With this long distance and with a prediction of 25 to over 40 knots the conditions were too extreme. In order to keep the crew and the boats safe, the Race Managers amended the format of this World Championship to a Coastal Race. Even so the conditions were wild and variable, suitable to challenge the athletes in an appropriate test of performance, seamanship and navigation.
On the Second day between a fleet of 29 boats from 9 nations, the 1st boat to reach the mark was WindWhisper44, 🇵🇱 Marcin Sutkowski the reigning ORC Class B world Championship with a new 🇵🇱 Polish Crew and 🇵🇹 two Portugueses on board that already won the ORC World Championship in 2022 and in 2021. 🇵🇹 Hugo Rocha as the Helmsman and Afonso Domingos as the Tactician 🇵🇹. The Team Madame Grey almost catched them on the bottom of the downwind but they managed to hold the lead.
After 6 days of competition and despite one protest on the Long Offshore Race in the first windward-leeward race the team of our Portugueses managed the Victory ! With a difference of 7 points to Sirena and 10.5 from Katariina II.

Skipper's Ranking
🇵🇹 I started Sailing alone, for the First Time in a Optimist, in the Summer of 2004 in Belém in the Associação Naval de Lisboa. From there I continued to Sail in the Winter, continuing until today.
🇵🇹 After several years of competition on the Optimist, it was time to decide for which boat I should go. I chose the Laser, on which I've been since 2010. It was never a childhood goal to do Olympic Campaigns, but it was something that started to grow when I was 17/18 years old and ever since I became addicted to this lifestyle, that test us everyday. vela
