How do you incorporate mental health check-ins in your athletic program? Ensuring the well-being of your athletes is paramount. Start with your own mental health you can’t pour from an empty cup. The team reflects the mindset of its leader. Negativity, frustration, and anger can affect the program on and off the court.
Keep pushing!!!
Fired Up Fridays!!!
Kobe’s words remind us that self-belief is the foundation for achieving greatness. Trust in your abilities, work hard, and success will follow. 🌟
Play stupid games you win stupid prizes!!
You are in control!!
Everything is not a personal attack against you as a player, most times it really is about YOUR performance.
If you change it up and notice that you are no longer achieving the same success… CHANGE IT BACK!!!
Consistent mental health checks are needed to prevent burnout and depression. Check in with your athletes!
When God remove certain things and people LEAVE IT ALONE! 🫶🏽💚➡️
Positive self-talk is a valuable tool that empowers athletes to cultivate a positive mindset, enhances performance, manage pressure, and maintain mental well-being. It is an essential component of mental training and can significantly contribute to an athlete's success and satisfaction in the sport.
It starts from the Top!!!! Coaches should determine and set the tone for their team!!!
Today is National Hydration Day!!
Athletes, hydration is not just a good idea; it's a fundamental aspect of our training regimen. Make it a habit to hydrate before, during, and after workouts, listen to your body's signals, and stay in tune with your unique hydration needs. Fuel your performance, conquer your goals, and thrive on your athletic journey.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!
To all the coaches who invest their time, energy, and heart into helping athletes grow and succeed, we salute you. This Father's Day, we want to express our deepest gratitude for the impact you have made. Enjoy this day and we appreciate your families for sharing you.
Let's create a culture of healthy sportsmanship and positive coaching, where mental health is as important as physical performance."
Coaches can still be tough, demanding, and challenging, but in a supportive and constructive way, that fosters growth, learning, and well-being.
Let’s stop the narrative of this generation is too soft, being mentally self aware does NOT make you soft!
If these are the true text messages from the TCU basketball player. These are heart breaking as a mental health professional but more so as a MOTHER of athletes.
We must normalize mental health prevention and inventions. Athletes deal with so much, they need counseling sessions added to their athletic routine ASAP!
Coaches be okay with encouraging your athletes to seek help when they need it. A mentally strong athlete is much better for everyone! Themselves, their teammates and your program.
Like it or not athletic coaches play a crucial role in the development of their athletes, not just physically, but also emotionally.
When coaches lack emotional intelligence themselves it is difficult for them to connect emotionally with their team.
It’s BIGGER than basketball! Who they are when the ball stops bouncing is what will matter.
Be very particular about who you allow to pour into your child. The life lessons learned along the way will stay with them for life.
Good, Bad or Indifferent!
Grateful for great influences like Coach Perk!
Coaches you are the pencil sharpeners. Are you sharpening ALL of your athletes or dulling and breaking them down with your negativity and indirect aggression; and expecting them to perform as though they are sharpened and prepared?
Sport psychology and mental health awareness is widely accepted and at the forefront of our minds. Not seeking help and choosing to remain stuck in your same mindset is unacceptable. You literally have help all around you!
If you are struggling mentally talk to someone you trust to begin the healing process or seeking professional help. People will NOT continue to beg you to help yourself or believe in yourself. It starts with YOU!
People are more willing to help those that help themselves.
Make "YOU" the priority, NO EXCUSES!
Remember putting your mental health first will change the way you view and play the game. ~GAME CHANGER MHC
Texas Athletes... Due to the Ice Storm we are lockdown and shutdown. Have you allowed the school closures to shut "YOU" down?
How you spend your downtime reveals the type of athlete you really are.
Find a good balance of rest and work to remain active. Do not allow this downtime to take you DOWN.
Yes, it's cold and icy outside, but the internet is full of resources use google and find an indoor workout.
Mental Health Coaching for athletes and Athletic coaches!
Happy Wellness Wednesday! Today’s post is dedicated to the men! Depression and Anxiety do not have a gender preference. Self-care is important for men too. Some men carry the weight of the world on their shoulders.
Men your mental health matters, take care of yourself!
Ultimately you are in control of your story!! If you don’t like it CHANGE THE NARRATIVE!! Stop blaming others for things that you can control.
Sometimes we have to look within before change can take place.
Do not miss your opportunity because of fear!! Believe in yourself once YOU believe in YOU others will follow and if they don’t, WHO CARES!!!
Which is more detrimental to a program a toxic coach or a toxic athlete?
BOTH negatively affects your program and causes unnecessary stress and turmoil.
Reflect on how you can improve SELF!!
