This October, I'm planning on spending the month doing what I do best: eating popcorn that I popped in my Whirley Pop (I love that thing), cuddling with the dogs under fleece blankets, and being a cozy little introvert. So far, I'm anxiously awaiting the first episode of Loki Season 2 when it drops this week, even if it isn't so spooky. It seems like ages since the first season came out, but I really did enjoy it. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back into it. Tom Hiddleston is still incredibly engaging to me, so I doubt that I will have any trouble! And let's not forget that he is the star of one of my favorite creepy movies to watch this time of year: Crimson Peak. (Honorable mention to Only Lovers Left Alive, as well).

And that brings me to my question this month. I need your help. I'm looking for even more spooky season recs from you so that I can spend my October in a cozy but thrilling little cocoon. So, tell me: what is your favorite spooky story? Are you a fan of slasher flicks involving chainsaws and long, shiny knives? Into the creepy classics like The Omen or Dracula? Or do you like those tales with an element of comedy in order to subvert the genre, like Scream, Cabin in the Woods, or Tucker & Dale vs. Evil? Are you all about cozy mysteries with punny titles? Classic horror from authors like Mary Shelley, Shirley Jackson, or Anne Rice? Is more modern horror from people like Paul Tremblay or Stephen Graham Jones more to your taste? Or do you crave dark, delicious romance: the darker the better? Let me know! Bonus points if it features an unforgettable hottie.

Hey, Asphodelites! It has been a whirlwind summer around here, let me tell you. I haven't had much time for reading or watching movies or tv lately, but I did manage to squeeze in one book recently, a fun little Greek dream god romance book from about twenty years ago, and it got me thinking. Who is your favorite Greek god, demi-god, or Adonis-like hunk in books, movies, or tv? Got a soft spot for raging Achilles? Love you some mischievous men, like Odysseus or Dionysus? Does your heart belong to Hades? Let me know down below! As for me, I have a soft spot for Prometheus. I love the myth, I love the use of it in modernity, and I always come back to it. Tell me yours!

Well, they aren't lying when they say April showers. It's been raining like crazy here today. That's okay, though. I'm one of those people who is in love with a thunderstorm. It gets my cottagecore sensibilities going. All I want to do is curl up with my mug of tea and my book and spend the afternoon reading. Actually, that is exactly what I'm going to do once I'm done here. What about you? Are you a fan of wet weather? Even if not, you may still love a rainy romance vibe. My question for you today is: what's your favorite rainy weather moment? Damon and Elena kissing on The Vampire Diaries? When Mary Jane kisses Spiderman upside down? Christian and Satine singing to one another in Moulin Rouge? Or some dark and stormy night in a Gothic novel? Let me know down below!

Happy weekend! What have you been reading lately? I've been in a fantasy mood, so I've been reading The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch (finally, I know), as well as the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. My question for your today is: what is your favorite fantasy book or series? Do you breathe all things ACOTAR and the Night Court? Obsessed with Gideon the Ninth? Do you keep it old school with Tolkien? Can't get enough of Martin's Westeros? Fan of Harry Dresden? Love to explore sympathy with Kvothe? Share your favorites with me. Romance or non-romance, it doesn't matter. I love them all, so please share. 👇

This month, I've got Pedro Pascal on the mind. We've been watching The Last of Us, and it's heartbreaking and lovely and so well done. Pedro seems like he is everywhere right now, especially in sci-fi and fantasy. He has been smashing it in these genres. From the smooth-talking Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones to the laconic Din Djarin in the Mandalorian, the widely proclaimed internet's daddy has everyone abuzz. The new season of The Mandalorian starts tomorrow, and I am excited to see where he will be off to with his little green friend. Will you be watching it this week? My question for you this month is this: what is your favorite Pedro Pascal role? Do you live for Narcos? Is Joel your jam? Did you like Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman? Are you all about that Oberyn Martell mystique? Let me know!

Over the past few weeks, I've been watching the adaptation of Anne Rice's The Witching Hour, a show called Mayfair Witches. I was looking forward to it, as it was one of the more frightening Anne Rice books that I have read. Still, I always thought it would be a difficult adaptation for the screen. It's long and strange and has time jumps and endless digressions. Not easy subject matter for a short television season. So far, I've had a hard time getting into the show in the same way that I was a fan of the new Interview with the Vampire adaptation, but I am interested in seeing how the season will turn out. I think it touches on the creepiness of Lasher, but I feel they might have revealed too much about him too soon. What about you? Are you watching the show? Does it hit on some of the things you loved about the book? My question for you this month is this: what is your favorite book, tv show, or film about witches? It can be funny, serious, nonfiction, whatever you like. Feel free to share. I love all things magical. Hopefully I can find some new witchy tales to love.

What's better than choosing between a fae, a vampire, an incubus, and a werewolf? Not having to choose...

If you haven't read this series already, binge it now.

The year is winding down. We are in that week where time seems to stand still and nobody knows what day it is. All our big plans get put on hold, and we become introspective, reflecting on the events of the year, the ways that we spent our time during it, and what we might want to achieve in the one to come. I'm right there with you.

My question for you this week is this: what unexpected thing happened this year that made you totally happy, even if for a moment? Did you find the perfect chocolate croissant? Did you read a book that made your heart leap? Did you find a show that left you excitedly waiting for the next season? Did you fall in love? Did you learn how to make sourdough? Did you realize that you've found your strength? Tell me something that made you smile, no matter how trivial it may seem. Those moments are so important, and you should share them. Tell me all about it!

New TikTok of Penn Badgley dancing to Meghan Trainor's "Made you look" 30/11/2022

The past day or two, I've been haunting TikTok and in particular enjoying the videos of people dancing to Meghan Trainor's Made You Look. It's not my normal type of music that I'm into, but everyone looks so happy when they dance to it that I can't help but smile. Tons of folks have made videos and more than a few celebrities have joined in on the fun. Kevin Bacon's version is adorable, for instance. But I have to say that my favorite version by far is Penn Badgley's version. Whether you know him from Gossip Girl or Netflix's You or his podcast, you know that he's a real charmer. So take a gander at Penn shakin' it in this video. I might have watched it at least 50 times by now. Do you have a favorite version? Or do you have a favorite Penn Badgley show, episode, or video to share? Let me know!

It's finally here! Interview with the Vampire has arrived, with the infuriatingly hot Lestat, the deliciously broody Louis, and lots of new and unexpected elements. It's about five episodes in now, and while it departs from the film and book in many ways, I have to admit, I am loving how it does so. It is somehow managing to capture much of what I find interesting about Rice's writing that hasn't exactly been captured in previous adaptations. The angst, the longing, the resentment, and the anger. The gruesomeness of it all. The show does it pretty well.

My question for you this month is: what is your favorite Anne Rice book? I'm partial to The Queen of the Damned, although I have a soft spot for Memnoch the Devil. Lestat's backstory in The Vampire Lestat was captivating. The Witching Hour creeped the hell out of me. Lasher is, well, quite terrifying to me at least. Let me know your favorites: your favorite books, your favorite characters, your favorite moments. I know people have very strong opinions about her books and past and potential adaptations. If you aren't a fan of Anne Rice, then tell me what your favorite vampire book is. They are my favorite type of supernatural creatures, and I always need more vampires on my TBR list. Let me know!

We've been doing a lot of snuggling, a lot of reading, and a lot of television watching around here. Sometimes life forces you to take a pause no matter how busy you are, and I am grateful for the time that I've had this week to spend with my family. One of the shows I've been watching this month is the new Lord of the Rings show on Amazon, the Rings of Power. The show is beautiful, and while some find it less than exciting, I've been enjoying it quite a bit. The Harfoots are endearing, the elves are intriguing, the dwarves are entertaining, and I love the chance to return to Middle Earth. The elf Galadriel is a bad-ass figure, single-mindedly bent on fulfilling her task. And I am sure I am not alone in wondering if we are going to get to know Sauron. According to canon, he made himself beautiful to seduce the elves into siding with him at one point. Will we get a gander at Hot Sauron? Will he be the kind of baddie that we can learn to love? It might be a stretch, but I want to see what they do with his character.

My question for you this month is: who is your favorite Lord of the Rings character? New or old, good or bad, book or screen, it doesn't matter. Let me know. Personally, I love Treebeard, Radagast the Brown Wizard, and of course Aragorn. Samwise is a hero. Gandalf is a treasure. I even have a soft spot for the much maligned Tom Bombadil. In the new show, I quite like the perceptive and kind Elrond as well as the guardian elf Arondir. The romantic tension between Arondir and Bronwyn is delicious, but I fear that it might be ill-fated. As for my favorite? It's impossible for me to choose, really, but if I had to do so, I would likely choose the elf Legolas. What about you? Let me know.

For a long time, Neil Gaiman has been one of my favorite authors, and the show is everything I waited for and more. My little teen goth girl heart is so happy right now. The show is full of wonderful actors, stunning visuals, and a main character with cheekbones that could cut you. Morpheus looks like he walked directly out of his monthly meeting of Quiet Poets Who Love to Gaze Dreamily at the Moon club.

My question for you this month is: are there any Neil Gaiman fans here in the community? If so, what is your favorite work by him? My answer isn't that uncommon--I love American Gods--but I also have a soft spot for the short story collection Fragile Things, especially the audiobook read by Neil himself. I've read The Graveyard Book more times that I can remember, and The Sandman omnibus collections are worth the investment. I'm quite the Gaiman fangirl, to be honest, so are there any kindred spirits here?

For those of you who know me well, you know that I have two great loves in pop culture: Star Wars and Ewan McGregor. I have adored both for longer than I can remember. And in one week, I get to watch the Obi Wan Kenobi show coming to Disney+. The first two episodes air here in the U.S. on May 27, and I can barely contain my excitement. As someone who grew up devouring the extended universe books and doing continuous rewatches of the film as my comfort shows, I am happy to be living in an era of more Star Wars than ever. Any of you Star Wars fans, too?

My convo for you this month is this: what is your favorite Ewan McGregor character? I know, I know. It's impossible to choose. From the dreamy, beautiful poet in Moulin Rouge (and the Pillow Book, for that matter) to the cutie trickster in Down With Love to the wayward roommate in Shallow Grave to the crime boss in Birds of Prey, there really is no version of Ewan that I can't get on board with. Ahem. His career is prolific and varied, and there are so many roles to discuss. Tell me your favorite. I love discussing all things Ewan!

Hey everyone. The show I've been into the most lately has been Moon Knight. You all know that I'm an Oscar Isaac fan, and his performance in this show is wonderful, especially the adorable Steven Grant character. I can't resist a nerd into mythology. My conversation starter for you this month is what is your favorite Oscar Isaac role? Love that hotshot pilot Poe in Star Wars? The megalomaniacal robot owner in Ex Machina? Stern brunch daddy in Dune? Let me know your answers down below!

Who else is looking forward to the release of season two of The Witcher in a week? You know my feelings about Henry Cavill, and he's never more appealing than as the grimy, laconic Geralt. If you're also excited about this strange little show, let me know what you hope to see in season two. What do you think will happen now that those two characters met at the end of season one? Who is your favorite character (Yennefer? Ciri? Any Jaskier fans here)?

I never need a reason (or particular season) to watch something with vampires or witches or demons, but right now I'm feeling like watching a couple of classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes. My question for you is... what is your favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode? Who is your favorite Buffy character? Okay, two questions, but I love all things Buffy and can't resist. Feel free to include Angel characters on that list, but I'm sure we will have a separate Angel discussion someday. As for me, my favorite character is Tara (I took a fantasy writing class from Amber Benson once, and she is wonderful). Or Giles. Or Spike. Eh, maybe favorite episode then... Depending on my mood, it has to be Fool for Love. Or Becoming, Part 2. Or The Gift. Grr, arg, I can never decide. Eh, let's go with Tabula Rasa today.

A couple of people in my life recently got into the show Lucifer. Hearing them talk about it has reminded me of oh how I love that show. Maze's badassery. Dr. Linda's wry humor. Ella's adorable quirkiness. The last season is about to come out next week, and I have to admit that I'm excited. My question for you this month is: who is your favorite Lucifer character? As for me, I love the man himself. I mean, who wouldn't? Have you seen him? But besides the charming Mr. Morningstar, I also love me some Amenadiel. I've been a fan of D.B. Woodside since the Buffy the Vampire Slayer days when he was Principal Wood in season 7 (don't get me started on my deep and abiding love of Buffy- that's a whole other conversation). Circling back to Lucifer... Well, who's it gonna be? Chloe? Dan? Tell me your favorite episode while you're at it!

Have you seen the season 2 trailer of The Witcher yet? I finally remembered to watch it just today, and I am more than a little excited. As you might be aware we love all things Henry Cavill around here. I've been a huge fan ever since The Tudors, and my love has never ceased, only increasing with the endless revelations of his nerdiness (that computer building video anyone? or the way he speaks about his dog or chess or almost anything) So, my question for you this month is what is your favorite Henry Cavill character? (or video or instagram post). I have so many to choose from. Let me know your favorite Henry Cavill moment
