We'd like to convey our heartfelt appreciation to for donating reusable pads for these resilient young women found at salvation gate shelter.

Among so many challenges that women encounter, the inaccessibility and unaffordability of sanitary pads is a major one. Thank you again , , for mobilizing your efforts to raise awareness of this overlooked yet pervasive issue.

How different would you assume Addis and Hawassa to be? Not that much, right? Since both are relatively large and modern cities.

Now, imagine being a woman living in Addis Ababa, walking to school or work. And then, in broad daylight, you are abducted. Eventually, you realize that a man has taken you against your will to force you into marriage. The man violates your body and spirit, leaving you traumatized & broken, with your dreams of a bright future shattered. To make matters worse, the community in which you live, & even your own family, turn their backs on you. They believe that because you had been forced to have s*x with the man, you're now bound to him, destined to be his wife. Your life is no longer your own. The dreams you had, education, job– all of it is ripped away from you. You are robbed of your freedom and autonomy.

Sounds like a fictional scenario, doesn't it? Because forced marriages "only" happen in rural areas, right? WRONG. Melat, Tsega, & many others we don’t know their names yet would tell you otherwise because they have experienced & are still experiencing this. Where? The city of Hawassa, AKA "የፍቅር ከተማ", a popular tourist destination. A city with a dark secret. Behind its picturesque facade, girls & women are being forced into marriages against their will, their lives altered by the cruelty of others.

How saddening right? A step backward in a world that should've been progressing toward equality and justice. The audacity and comfort with which these perpetrators abducted and coerced girls into marriage beg the question – where is the law? Where is the ‘government’, responsible for safeguarding the rights and well-being of its citizens?

Melat, Tsega, and countless others have become victims of a society that had failed to protect them. It is time to shine a light on the plight of these girls and women in Hawassa, to make their voices heard and demand change. The city's reputation as a tourist attraction paled in comparison to the urgent need for justice and the preservation of human rights.

So , not just as a picturesque getaway, but as a place where girls and women were being stripped of their freedom and agency.

Despite creating awareness we want to use this golden opportunity to hand our love and support for ones who are suffering from it. We are working in partnership with Mathios Wondu Ethiopian cancer society(MWECS.)
85% of Ethiopia population resides in rural areas. What percent of the population has an awareness of breast cancer? Even if we couldn't know the exact figure, its clear that it is not more than 5 or 6%. This cancer society is trying its best to stretch there hands to the suffering from cancer by covering their transport, medical and other expenses.
This society supports 81 females living with breast cancer like Nigist Dagentu.
