Dentists nationwide are participating in a free service for Veterans. There's no catch for taking advantage of this service.

On November 6th, almost 600 Aspen Dental locations will welcome veterans from across the nation to their offices. To honor their service, Aspen Dental will provide much-needed dental care for each veteran at no cost to them. As millions of Americans struggle to access dental care every year, our country’s veterans are no exception. “It’s our small way of giving back to our nation’s veterans, who have given so much to all of us.” — Dr. Lauren McDonough, VP of Practice Owner Development at Aspen Dental Management, Inc.

To find a participating Aspen Dental office in the community and schedule an appointment, veterans can call 1-844-277-3646 (1-844-ASPENHMM). https://url-shortener.newsdirect.com/kgl0J3iS

Because of THIS...AVMRA-17 has met a Veteran who was formerly homeless. We had the fortunate moments to "watch" him grow into a model Veteran who picked himself up and made good things happen for himself. YOU CAN TOO! Thank you Howard County FSA♡

We HONOR, and We REMEMBER

AVMRA-17 of American Veterans Military Riders group "adopts" John Simcox, a Soldier who died in 1901 and served in Co. D, 9th IND INF. AVMRA-17 will be placing a wreath during the annual "Wreaths Across America" program at the Indiana Marion National Cemetery.

The following is how AVMRA-17 decided to adopt 2 Soldiers who may have been forgotten...

10/8/21 Community Assistance, Gravestones Found in backyard of home in Sharpsville, Indiana.

On Oct 7, 2021, AVMRA-17 was contacted by a family in Sharpsville, Indiana about finding 2 official looking military gravestones that has been on their property for years and was left alone in it's resting place and was eventually forgotten about. Now, the family is putting the house up for sale and wanted to do something about the gravestones. Locally, the family was aware that AVMRA-17 is affiliated with the VFW and American Legions, so they reached out to AVMRA-17 for assistance.

AVMRA-17 contacted the Tipton Historical Society about the names on the gravestones. The Historical Society informed AVMRA-17 that there were no records of the names on the stones and there were no families related to them in connection to Tipton County.

AVMRA-17 then contacted the Director of Indiana Marion VA National Cemetery about the gravestones that were found in Sharpsville. The VA National Cemetery archives were checked and noted that the 2 names do have an existing gravestone at their respected grave sites located in Indiana Marion National Cemetery. The VA Cemetery Director concluded that the reason for the 2 gravestones making its way to Sharpsville was unfounded. However, AVMRA-17 was informed that the gravestones are government properties and belonged in the care of the National Cemetery. AVMRA-17 has made arrangements with the homeowners for the removal of the gravestones by the staff of the VA National Cemetery.

A positive ending about the 2 names on the National Cemetery's gravestones: AVMRA-17 is "adopting" the 2 Troops so that a wreath may be placed on their Gravestones during the annual "Wreaths Across America" program.

To make a donation for a wreath or to sponsor a wreath for the Wreaths Across America program, please contact AVMRA-17. Or please go to Marion Indiana WAA AVMRA-17 FB site.

Getting the word out in the Veteran's Community:

Topic: VA or Veteran Concerns:

If you or a loved one is having or has had a negative experience with any Veteran's Service, please know that there are groups that want to know about it and address the issues.

Veterans and their families are not restricted to one service entity. Search for a veteran's group that you are comfortable with. And continue to search if you are not pleased with what you find.

AVMRA-17 is not a Veterans Service Office, BUT we do follow up on veteran's issue and try to help redirect for a positive result.

AVMRA-17 is a Non-profit Veteran's Community Group of American Veterans Motorcycle Riders Association. AVMRA-17 participates in Table-Talks with the Marion Indiana VA Hospital Customer Service, Indiana Dept of Veterans Affairs, the VFW, American Legion and Veterans Service Offices.
